I picked this book up when it was free at Choosy BookWorm. I am sometimes leery of reading romance, either it's too sappy or two sexy, but the book description really captured my attention. I was so glad that I overcame my reluctance! The story is po ...more

“May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
R.P. Dahlke, A Dead Red Oleander

“Chapter One: The world is flat. I know it is, because for the last five hours the view has been exactly the same. Only the sun has done any traveling, working its long shadows through straight lines of harvested cotton. A few crows shop the furrowed rows for worms, weevils, and grasshoppers. One hops over to inspect the truck I'm lying under, cocks a beady black eye, probably attracted to the shiny metal police-issued handcuffs, my hand in one of the cuffs, dangling from wrist to arm, and finally down to me, Lalla Bains, aero-ag pilot, sometime busybody, meddling where I shouldn't—again. I'm dirt smeared and sweaty, thinking if I get out of this alive, if the killer doesn't return to finish me off, I'll foreswear all future sleuthing. My dad, Caleb my fiancé, my best friend Roxanne, and half of Stanislaus County will be pleased to bear witness to that promise.”
R.P. Dahlke, A Dead Red Oleander

“Maybe I could get the answers and clear”

Hi R.P.:

I must say thanks for the connection that friendship brings! I simply love the re-tweets! Thanks Loads...
I do hope that you've enjoyed the short story:
"Bowery of the Crimson Frock and Flesh!"

The continuing adventure of Philadelphia's Fairmount Park continues in "REGATTA" and "SHAMAN" from:
"FAIRMOUNT": Terror In The Park

Peace and Love,

R.P. Dahlke Hi L.C. ! glad to see you here on GR. Great place to be!

message 6: by L.C.

L.C. Hayden Thanks for befriending me. I've downloaded some of your ebooks and have enjoyed them. Good going!
As you may remember, I left my traditional publisher and am now an e-book author. I've made more money and have had a lot more exposure now that I'm an e-author. Loving it--but still have a long way to go. I need people to download my books and read them. That's always so hard. Still, it's a nice adventure!

message 5: by R.P.

R.P. Dahlke Hi Zoe, I just finished my third Lalla Bains book. Been selling pretty well, and surprisingly my romantic sailing mystery is also doing well now... I'll do a trilogy on this subject since I have years of notes on Mexico and sailing and all the characters down there.
I'm really happy being an Indie author on Amazon. Those checks every month take the sting out of all the Publishers rejection over the years....LOL.
How about you? What's doin?
