As the Horror and Heineken Fest weekend draws to a close, I’m slowly but surely getting back into my routine. Sunday morning walk is all done and now I’m sitting here in my office eating cold pizza and drinking diet Coke as I begin my writing day.
The weather has finally cleared and there is so much light streaming in through the windows. Feels good. It’s a little cooler out, but still doesn’t seemlike fall. Fine by me. I’m never quite ready to relinquish my summer.
Last week I finished reading...

As you all know, for reasons beyond my control, I fell way behind on my writing deadlines and I’ve been slow to catch up. So, at the beginning of September, I set some very realistic goals for myself, writing-wise and health-wise.
I walk in the mornings at least four or five times a week and then I come home, sit down at the computer and knock out my word count before I’m allowed to work on anything else. No checking email or Facebook throughout the day until that modest word count is done.

Yeah,this happened today:
And then this happened…
That’s right. FINALLY, The Visitor is off to my editor, off to production and I’m letting no grass grow under my butt before starting Book Five, which as you may recall is tentatively titled The Sinner.
I’m dead-dog tired. I stayed up all night finishing the manuscript and unfortunately, I don’t even have that punch-drunk high that usually sustains me until mid-afternoon.Today I’m just flat out pooped.
I’m really excited about the series direction...

I’m just back from the RWA conference in San Antonio and had a greattime visitingwith some of my writer friends. Prickly Pear margaritas at Boudroson the River Walk was the first order of business. The drink, I’ll be honest, was a little sweet for my taste, but the color is just solusious! So I had two.
I’vealways loved San Antonio. I know the River Walk is crowded and touristy, but I still think it’s beautiful, so shady and verdant. And no matter how many times I visit the Alamo, I al...

Just wanted to say a quick thanks for the feedbackabout my website update. You all are awesome! Wow! So many great ideas! You have no idea how helpful this is. I can’t waitto start adding content.
“Oh, I’ve got the prettiest readers. I’ve got the nicest readers. That’s what I tell everybody. I say I’ve got the sweetest readersin the world.” (™ The Bad Seed). :p

It’s a bit warm, but I don’t mind. Summer is my favorite time of year. I’m inside working right now, but later, when it cools off, I’ll go out and read by the pool for a while, maybe even dip my toes in if I’msoinclined.
Anyway, now that I’m back writing full time, I’ll be updating my website in September. I’m not getting a new site as I still enjoy the design and color scheme of my current one. Instead, my web desig...

Off we go!
To Jefferson, a tiny historical town in east Texas near the Louisiana border. A picturesque hamlet that also happens to be one of the most haunted places in the state. Or so we’ve been told. Alaina drives and I navigate, which explains why we’re lost before ever leaving Houston. Another wrong turn in Nacogdoches and we somehow find ourselves in Tyler.
We remain undaunted! and arrive in Jefferson mid-afternoon.
I’ve seen the sign for Jefferson many, many times on my way to Arkansas,...

This summer I’m doing something I’ve wanted to do for a really long time—taking a haunted hotel trip with a very good friend, who also happens to be a writer. If all goes as planned, we’ll visit a different haunted hotel every other month, eventually branching out from Texas into Arkansas (Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs), Louisiana and who knows where else? Since we’re both writers, we’ll want to chronicle our adventures via social networking so be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Yo...
