Tai: artist, author, entrepreneur's Blog

June 29, 2011

On the morning of February 14th, 2011, Cupid's Academy opened its doors to a select group of family and friends. The humorous tale of a teenage god unlucky in love was embraced like no other book in its category or that I've ever written. As the novel (available exclusively as an eBook) nears its sixth month, I wanted to tell you how much the support you've given thus far means to me. In my mind, your positive reception of this self-published novel from a relatively obscure author from Brooklyn has opened up a vista of opportunities: such as the potential of a screenplay for a 3-D animated film.

Yet aside from pursuing my dreams, I reminded myself of something important. A writer is nothing without a reader. Without readers like you, Harry wouldn't be the world's most famous wizard; Bella's commitment to Edward wouldn't have created such a scandal; and Narnia would have only been a place in some British author's mind.

Although the books that have moved you are between you and your bookshelf, what is clear is the power created when writer and reader work together to make stories memorable — and these stories continue to prosper only because of your support, your feedback, and your word-of-mouth. For Cupid's Academy, our journey has just begun.

Please add CA to your summer reading list (compared with other eBooks, you'll get all the entertainment at half of the price) and if you've already read CA, be the first to tell your friends what you think using the links below. There's no limit to what we can do together.

Hoping Cupid's arrow finds you,

Who else finds it challenging to be a self-published author. And not that published authors can just lay back and do nothing, I'm only saying wearing ALL the "hats" can be trying on one's creativity.
Anyway, I'm doing the ol' grassroots/social networking crawl and discovered a few more book reading social network on wikipedia. Just thought I'd share.
Stay Creative!
