It has been said in the Winton family that the day Tom was born a ferocious blizzard bore down on New York City. And that while in labor, his mother--her head down alongside his father--forged her way through near-blinding white snow to a Queens subway station where the two boarded a train to a Manhattan hospital. It has also been said that the doctor who later that day delivered Tom had to smack him on the behind three times before he'd cry.

At the only PTA meeting his parents ever attended, his third grade teacher told them, "Tommy can do anything he wants to. But he must be pushed." But Tommy didn't like to be pushed. Write it is as well as you possibly can. Make it interesting. Write it in such a way that it'll grip readers by the back of the neck and shove their noses closer to the page. After that, you just might be surprised at how easily the second sentence comes to you, and the third, and the fourth, and the..... . (less)

All I need for inspiration is for him to "deliver" a worthwhile idea to me. Once that happens I'm on it. (less)

My newest novel delves into that possibility. Entitled "Forever Three", it is the stand-alone-sequel to the internationally acclaimed best seller "Beyond Nostalgia." What follows are the opening paragraphs.

Chapter 1 - How It Was

"People may think there’s nothing worse than to have never loved another, but I don’t buy that for a minute. The way I see it, it’s impossible to miss what you never ha... Read more of this blog post »

Tom Winton STROLL THE STREETS OF KEY WEST WITH PAPA HEMINGWAY – FOUR DAYS WITH HEMINGWAY’S GHOST WILL INSPIRE YOU – 350 fantabulous reviews!

“As we walked on in silence, I thought about the man alongside me. Although I had just hooked up with him the day before, I’d not only witnessed some of his emotional displays, but I’d felt them as well. To say I was surprised by his heartfelt actions would be a huge understatement. After all, Ernest Hemingway—the man, the myth, the legend he’d become—had been forged from more than just his literary accomplishments. He was supposed to have been a hard man, with thick skin and calluses on his knuckles and heart. But I already knew differently. That was not the Ernest Hemingway I was walking with in the predawn darkness. This man had neither a stainless steel persona nor heart.”
