About this author

I'm a 20-something writer originally from the fantastic (and possibly mythical) land of Central New Jersey. I currently live in New York State with my husband and my cat, who might just be the most intelligent being in our household.

For reference, if I were a TOS character, I'd be this one.

For reference, if I were a TOS character, I’d be this one.

I just got back from seeingStar Trek and, hey, Internet, I want to talk about it!

Spoilers, okay?

So I think the JJ Abrams reboot is a mixed bag, not in the least because we won’t get a TV show while he’s at the helm and the kind of Trek I like–the exact kind most people hate, with scenes of people at board meetings talking about diplomac...

If you read one alien invasion story this summer, this should be it.

YA sci-fi--my favorite genre!--has become a bit of a hard sell for me lately. Over the past three years I've just absorbed so much of it that even highly buzzed books often strike me...more

J. A. Owen What's crackalackin Phoebe! <3

message 34: by Heidi

Heidi Bwahaha, Phoebe, I'm so glad you sent that slightly awkward friend request! I am nothing if not eternally awkward and loving it. A) Charles Wallace Murray is an AWESOME choice, and I think I'd rather be him than Meg too. B) The fact that you have a blue Pernese dragon tattoo is pretty much the COOLEST THING EVER...I 'may' have once belonged to a Pern fan fiction community in which I wrote a character who was a vintner and a brown dragon rider. C) YES, we should definitely chat books (I totally want to read The Crossing which you are reading atm and I first heard of today).

message 33: by Rebecca

Rebecca Hi Phoebe, I wondered if you'd seen the latest episode of Doctor Who. Tis even more obnoxiously sexist than The Girl who Waited. And pretty dodgy ethically overall. *burns tardis*

Jenn "Awww Yeaaahhh" Funny, I thought we were too! :) Can't wait for your new book, sounds really good!

J. A. Owen I cannot wait for your debut novel! I'm so excited! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Awesome so far! Really enjoying it.

Weirdos are the best people. :)

message 29: by Bern

Bern Hey Phoebe, thanks for the friendvite! I'm glad you liked the review, I was terrified people would lynch me because I'd liked The Selection but as it turns out, everybody already knows that I'm weird anyway. Now I feel bad and not mysterious. Dammit. But hey, how's Magisterium going?

message 28: by Sarah

Sarah Hi Phoebe! I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your comments on the science fiction/dystopia/romance thread that's been kicking around GR the last couple days. You addressed a lot of hot button issues I have with the way folks talk about books and their respective merit. :)

message 27: by Rachel

Rachel Hartman SPOOOOOOKY action at a distance!

Thanks so much, Catie! Can't wait to talk books with you. :)

Angela Hi, thanks for the friend request. Glad you liked that review :-)

Barbara, aka VampAngel Hey Phoebe, thanks for accepting my friend invite. I too look forward to discussing books with you and reading your reviews. I'm a bit lazy when it comes to writing my own reviews, but I do enjoy a good book discussion (usually "inside" my friend's reviews).

message 20: by Shirley

Shirley Marr Hey Phoebe, thanks for wanting to hook up and be friends, I am very honoured indeed!

message 19: by Steph

Steph Sinclair Hey Phoebe, did you hear that Google will be discontinuing Google Friend Connect for all non-blogger blogs in March 2012? I saw on The Intergalactic Academy that you guys have hit 100 followers! Congrats!

message 18: by Regina

Regina Thanks for the friend invite -- you beat me by seconds. :) I was about to request you. I agree, the Ashfall discussion on Kat's review is one of the best discussions I have had on GR. Thanks for your thoughts. I look forward to discussing books (and maybe more) with you!

Ashelynn Phoebe!! Congrats on your book deal; i freaking LOVE the premise of it and can't wait to read STARGLASS! :)

J. A. Owen Hey Phoebe! Notice you read a lot of genre's. There is a new author out her and her name is Patti Roberts. You've probably seen my status updates not quite sure but you should really give her series, Paradox: The Angels are here a read! I think you will really like it!

message 14: by Phoebe

Phoebe Aw, thanks Karen! Ditto.

message 13: by Karen

Karen Thanks for accepting me! I hope we'll soon be good friends.

Look forward to discussing books (and other) with you!

;)

Flannery I've been stalking you for a while on here anyway!
I am glad to be your friend! I look forward to chatting about books with you, Phoebe, especially since I've read a lot of your well-worded comments on the YA fiascos of late.

Phoebe Vinaya wrote: "Andrea Tompa emailed me! And gave me an interview! Thanks Phoebe, I owe you one! :) *hugs*"

Oh yay! I can't wait to read it!!

Vinaya Andrea Tompa emailed me! And gave me an interview! Thanks Phoebe, I owe you one! :) *hugs*

Jillian -always aspiring- Phoebe,

Yes, I've noticed we run in the same circles too, but I was always too shy to send a friend request. Thank you for doing so instead! :P

I wish you all the best with your writing and continued reviewing. Drop me a line to know when your novel's ready to hit the presses since I'd love to buy a copy and read it once it's published! ;)

Happy reading and writing to you.~

-Jillian

Vinaya Are you a Twilight fan? Because if you're not, you should thank HarperTeen for not giving you Starcrossed! It's pretty much Twilight of the Demigods. :)

Stephen I love reading your reviews, Phoebe. Keep up the good work.

message 2: by Joyzi

Joyzi Thanks for accepting me Phoebe!

Félix Thanks Phoebe! I love your website. It makes me hungry. I think I'll go raid the fridge!
