On Saturday, Feb 18th, I had the chance to attend the Military Order of the Purple Heart Ball(Chapter 604) in Bakersfield. In addition to getting to meet some wonderful people, veterans and to honor WWII Veterans, I donated all proceeds from my book sales at the event to the MOPH. A great night for everyone!

Lay down
Your tired & weary head my friend.
We have wept too long
Night is falling
And you we are only sleeping

We have come to this journey's end
It's time for us to go
To meet our friends
Who beckon us
To jump again

From across a distant sky
A C-130 comes to carry us
Where we shall all wait
For the final green light

In the light of
The pale moon rising
I see far on the horizon
Into the world of night and darkness
Feet and knees together

Time has ceased
But cherished memories still linger
This is the way of life and all things
We shall meet again
You are only sleeping.

Never let anyone break you down. You need to be strong enough to stand your ground and not let others crush your spirit or soul.
There are sick people out there who get pleasure out of watching others suffer. You cannot let them make you fail or quit. That's your choice, not thiers. Hold your head high, stand your ground and don't ever let them see that thier evilness is getting to you.
Do not b
elieve thier lies. You know who you are. You are an awesome person. Keep faith. Maintain hope and know you can make it through anything. You've already been through a lot.
If it feels like its getting to be too much, consider praying. And if that doesn't help... just call me up and you know I'll be there. You are never alone.

“Tears shed for another person are not a sign of weakness. They are a sign of a pure heart.”
José N. Harris, MI VIDA

“Waiting hurts. Forgetting hurts. But not knowing which decision to take can sometimes be the most painful...”
José N. Harris, MI VIDA

“There is beauty in truth, even if it's painful. Those who lie, twist life so that it looks tasty to the lazy, brilliant to the ignorant, and powerful to the weak. But lies only strengthen our defects. They don't teach anything, help anything, fix anything or cure anything. Nor do they develop one's character, one's mind, one's heart or one's soul.”
José N. Harris

“What Is love? When I was growing up on the streets of Tijuana, I dreamed of being in love. My clothes were old, my pants worn, street water passed through my shoes and socks, but the stars still shined through my soul...”
José N. Harris

“I just read the last page of the Bible again for some reassurance... And yep, everything is going to be alright”
José N. Harris, MI VIDA

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: not pursuing it.”

“FORBIDDEN
Pain without learning is forbidden,
waking up one day not knowing what to do,
being afraid of your memories.

It is forbidden not to smile at problems,
not to fight for what you want,
to abandon all because of fears,
not to realize your dreams.

It is forbidden not to show your love,
to be ashamed of your tears,
to not laugh with children,
to make someone else pay your debts, bad humor.

It is forbidden to forget your friends,
to not try to understand why they live far away,
to treat people as disposable,
to call them only when you need them.

It is forbidden to not be yourself in front of others,
pretending around people you don’t care about,
trying to be funny just so you'll be remembered,
to forget about all the people who love you.

It is forbidden not to do things for yourself,
to be afraid of life and its commitments,
to not to live each day as if it were your last.

It forbidden to take someone out without having fun,
to forget their eyes, their laugh,
to not respect love even if it is past,
just because your paths have stopped crossing,
to forget your past and only live in the moment.

It is forbidden not to try to understand people,
to think that other’s lives are worth more than yours,
to not know that each one of us has our own way and our own happiness.

It is forbidden not create your own story,
to have no time for people who need you,
to not understand what life gives to you, and that it can also be taken away.

It is forbidden not find your happiness,
to not live your life with a positive attitude,

to not think we can do better and be better,
to not feel that without you, this world would still be the same...”
