Fred McKissack, Jr. has nearly 20 years experience as a writer and editor, and is currently the managing editor of the Milwaukee-based education quarterly magazine, Rethinking Schools. He has worked at such diverse publications as The Progressive, the Progressive Media Project, sportingnews.com, and the Wisconsin State Journal. The Washington Post, Knight-Ridder/Tribune News Service, Vibe, and The Source have published his articles, op-eds, and reviews. In addition to his journalistic work, Fred has written and contributed to books for young people.
