So after a little downtime, my book is doing a thing again, which is: coming out in paperback. Its official release date is June 12, and you can order it on Amazon. I'll also be doing a couple of fun things in NYC in the coming weeks: I'm reading in the Hatchet Job series at 7 PM on June 5 at Public Assembly (70 N. 6th St, Brooklyn), with the lovely Jenny Zhang, Guy Pettit, and Rachel Glaser. And on June 6 at the Hungarian Consulate, I'll be doing a panel discussion on dystopian classic Voyage to Kazohinia with the also-lovely Benjamin Hale, Gregory Moynahan, Francesco Crocco, and Ralph Dumain, moderated by Edie Meidav. Then I'll be reading/paneling in San Diego in July and North Carolina in August — more details to come!

December 30, 2011

Happy new year everyone! Some fun new year's news: my book was listed among the Chicago Tribune's favorite books of 2011, along with work by Kevin Brockmeier, Benjamin Hale, Alan Heathcock, Lily Tuck (who wrote this year's incredibly good I Married You For Happiness) and other awesome writers.

Also, He Is A Voice made a snippet of music inspired by America Pacifica, which is pretty cool.

Thanks to everyone who has come to readings, read the book, and generally been wonderful in 2011. I wish a lovely 2012 to all of you.

Another fun event in New York this coming week: the Center for Fiction is celebrating Ursula Le Guin's A Wizard of Earthsea, and I'll be doing a panel there on utopias and dystopias with Charles Yu and Kathleen Goonan. There meaning the Center for Fiction, not Earthsea. Come see us Monday, Oct. 3 at 7!

I'll be reminiscing about ninth grade at Story Collider's Science and Writing event on Tuesday, 9/27. If you'll be in New York, come out to Union Hall at 8 PM to see me and several other rad storytellers.

Many, many thanks to everyone who came out to my events this summer! It's been such a fun tour and it's been wonderful to see and talk to all of you. Special thanks to the Sewanee Writers' Conference and rockstar organizer Kevin Wilson for feeding, housing, and entertaining me for the past two weeks and giving me the opportunity to hang out with so many awesome writers and a snapping turtle. I'll likely be doing more events in the future, but at a less breakneck pace. In the meantime, here is a picture the rad Nicole Weston took at my Los Angeles reading. Imagine I am smiling my thanks at you through the Internet. Anna_skylight1

And for those of you in DC, I will be reading at Politics and Prose this Sunday, 7/17, at 1 PM.

June 2, 2011

Chicagoans, I'll be speaking on a panel at the Printers Row Lit Fest on Saturday at 11:45, along with authors Lesley Kagan and Hannah Pittard. The panel is called Missing in Action, and we'll be talking about missing persons in literature -- should be a good time. We'll be at the Loop Room in the University Center. Full Lit Fest schedule is here. Come say hi!

Also, thanks to everyone who came to my reading at Greenlight on Tuesday, and to the Greenlight staff for hosting a really fun night!

In case you have not seen them, I want to draw your attention to these amazing America Pacifica comics by the even-more-amazing Cole Weathers. They have their own tab on my website so you can visit them anytime you want, which if you are me is like every half hour.
