About this author

I am honoured to have both of my books appear on the USAToday Bestseller list and the New York Times Bestseller list. I've also been a Semifinalist for Best Author in the 2011 and 2012 Goodreads Choice Awards. "Gabriel's Inferno" was a Semifinalist for Best Romance in 2011 and "Gabriel's Rapture" was a Finalist for Best Romance in 2012, in the Goodreads Choice Awards, as well.

I'm interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition - particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself.

Hello Cheryl,
Thanks for your kind words.
Penguin Australia controls the rights to my works in Oz/NZ so I'm afraid the question of audiobooks is up to them. I haven't heard from them on the subject, so it's possible something is in the works.
It might also be good for them to hear from a reader (or two?) who is interested in the audiobooks in Oz.
Sorry about that. If I hear anything, I'll post about it for sure.

The other vendor who sells my work in audio format (both download & CD) is this one: http://www.recordedbooks.com/index.cf...

But I'm not sure if they will ship to Australia ...

Thanks for writing to me and thanks for reading,
SR

Looking forward to book 3!

Joanne Hi Sylvain, thanks for adding me - I am a big fan of the Gabriel's Inferno series. I read them both so quickly, I couldn't put them down. I was gripped by the story and when I finished the second book I was sad it was all over, although I was pleased the way it ended, with Gabriel & Julia getting their Happily Ever After. When I discovered shortly after that there was to be a third book, I was thrilled! I am so looking forward to the third book, I can't wait to find out what's in store for Gabriel & Julia this time. Have you got any other books in the pipeline?

Thank you for this very kind note. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the novels.

I'm writing the third book as we speak and it's coming along nicely. But I'm afraid I don't have a release date yet. I hope to be able to release another teaser before the end of the year.

All the best,
SR

message 131: by Maria

Maria Hi Sylvain,
Just a note to let you know how much I enjoyed the Gabriel series! The first time I read the books, I read them both until the wee hours of the morning, since I couldn't put them down. I read them a second time, more slowly, and tried to savor them more. Delicious! So much better the second go-around. And this time, with the oh-so-perfectly-matched soundtrack in the background!

I was a stranger to romance/erotic romance until recently, and have since picked up other books in this genre, but the Gabriel series is in a class by itself - so much so that I think a third read-through is being planned. :) Obsessive, perhaps, but well-worth really, truly getting to know the characters on a deeper level. I've got all kinds of thoughts swirling around in my head as to what's going to happen to Julia and Professor Emerson in the third book. In fact, I might be driving myself mad by sheer thinking (read: obsession) with the series.

This is obviously a very premature question, so forgive me, but any ideas/thoughts on when the world might become acquainted with Book 3 of Julia's and the Professor's story? It's in the cards for me to black out that date completely for a sit-on-the-sofa-in-my-pajamas-and-devour-third Gabriel book-session.

Thanks again for writing the series. Know you've got a lifelong fan!

Maria Cole

Hello Debbie,
Thank you for these very kind words. I'm glad that you enjoyed the novels.

I haven't read Dorothy Dunnett. You've intrigued me. I'm going to look her up. Thank you.

The third book in the trilogy is coming along nicely and as ever, the snarky narrator is an entertaining companion.

All the best and thanks once again,
SR

message 129: by Debbie

Debbie Hello Sylvain,

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Gabriel's Inferno and Gabriel's Rapture. In addition to the compelling characters and moving love story, I really appreciated the use of literature, art, history and travel that added so much richness to your novels. You have encouraged me to reach for books I haven't read in years and seek out ones I have yet to read.

Given your interest in the literature, art, and history of the Medieval and Renaissance periods, I wonder if you have ever read the work of Dorothy Dunnett? If not, I can't recommend enough that you pick up The Game of Kings (book 1 of the Lymond Chronicles.)

I was surprised to read that Gabriel's story will be a trilogy, as I thought the ending of Gabriel's Rapture was very satisfying. However, I am delighted to hear that the Professor is still whispering in your ear, and that Gabriel, Julia, and the acerbic "narrator" will be back! Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us. Debbie

I couldn't put them down and stayed up until the wee hours of the night trying to finish them and was exhausted at work the next day, but it was worth it.
