About this author

Tertön Sangye Lingpa (Sangs-rGyas gLing-Pa, 'Sanctuary of Awakening') was a Tibetan Buddhist lama held to be the reincarnation or an emanation of prince Murup Tsenpo, the second son of King Trisong Deutsen; a major terton, the first of the Eight Lingpas, and revealer of the Lama Gongdu cycle in 13 volumes.

He was also the Founder of Dechen Samdrup monastery in Nyipu, and Sangye Teng monastery in Bhutan, which was subsequently the seat of both Ratna Lingpa and Pema Lingpa.
