About this author

I'm currently taking part in a Q&A Group here on Goodreads to discuss my latest novel, Sheer Abandon . To post questions, please visit: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/4.... I look forward to an active discussion together.

I was nine years old when I embarked on my storytelling career. I wrote my own magazine called “Stories”, which I copied out three times on carbon paper and sold for two pence at school. I then went on to write for my church magazine--only to be accused of irreverence toward the ladies in the sewing circle, and fired. So began a career in writing which has seen 7 million copies sold, and 11 years as a bestselling novelist.

My first "real" job was at the Harrods Library in London (where I was nearly fired but not qu

“And on Sunday we went to the flea market and it was so cool. Nicola said she wanted to look at pictures and fabrics, so Carey and I went to an amazing part, called the Marché Malik, all retro stuff, and I got this denim jacket, it’s just gorgeous, got all flowers embroidered on it, so much cooler than some mass-produced thing from Hollister. I’ll go and get it.’ ‘And there we were spending squillions on one from Hollister,’ said Bianca, ‘so uncool. Silly us not to know. I’m not sure about this friendship, Patrick.’ Patrick grinned at her. ‘It won’t last. They’ll probably fall out next term.’ ‘And I really don’t like this thing of giving her cocktails. So”

Penny Vincenzi Hi Daniel
Having seen what you do and the books you write, I am incredibly flattered you want to read mine.
Enjoy!
Penny

Renée Dear Penny,
I was so happy to see you become an author on good reads.I discovered your books last year when the Lytton trilogy came out in the US.After scouring through those, i found all of your other books on ebay and I purchased them in paperback from the UK or Australia.(I couldn't wait for the U.S. releases)Imagine my delight when the books arrived and they were so...fat!I could not believe that I had not discovered you before.I am an avid reader and I have a degree in European history so I'm always intrigued by books that make the events become real for me.I particularly like the Lytton trilogy because it shows the war from the British perspective.I was also struck by WWI,and WWII in that long established class systems started to fall away;war being the great equalizer. Please write more soon! ( I've read everything but Glimpses and that is not available anywhere. Also, my puppy ate my copy of Windfall and that's one of my favorites.I need to replace it.)Have a lovely time on your tour!
Sincerely,
Renee

Penny Vincenzi Hi Renee
Thank you for a lovely letter! I'm so glad you liked the Lyttons--and it' so especially pleasing that an expert on European history should approve! I did work very hard on the research--but it's always an anxiety, getting it right. Or as right as it can be!
Sorry about the puppy eating Wndfall; mine ate a HUGE library book about Winston Churchill...
Thank you for your good wishes on my tour. I'm looking forward to it very much. .
Penny
