About this author

There should be a pic of me in my gallery if you're really desperate, but when I'm hanging with my friends on Goodreads I choose whatever I'm currently obsessed with for my profile. At the moment, I'm back to being Sephiroth again.

I'm the author of the Dragonfate series, Dragon's Gold, Dragon's Flight, and Dragon's Oath; and also The Bone Harp, the first book in The Felling. The fourth (and hopefully, final) Dragonfate book, Dragon's Crown, is in progress at the moment.

I began and finished writing my first book, Dragon's Gold, during the month before my sixteenth birthday. I've never written anything so quickly or easily since then, but I'm learning to be a better writer every day.

I love cats, blue, dragons, heavy metal music, fresh lemons,...more

Salutations! It's been a while since my last post, but I'm seeing another empty white box that's begging to be written in, so here I am, writing in it.

First off, I'll answer that question I asked so long ago: why are Kyaza and his family Ruby Dragons, when blue has been my favorite color since before I knew what the name of it was?

The answer is this - originally, Kyaza and his family were blue.... Read more of this blog post »

More of Alexis's books…
“For this, for you, my heart will burn
It whispers to me, what I speak now in turn:
If the sun should hide, let it hide;
If darkness drain the light, on moonbeams we ride.
It matters not,
For I am by your side.

If the sky should fall, let it fall;
If Death open his wings, ignore his dark call;
Let the stars fade, let worlds collide;
Let the seas boil, let chaos hold back the tide.
It matters not,
For you are by my side.”
Alexis Steinhauer, Dragon's Flight

“It's just like any relationship," Raelin told him with a grin, while Aldri practiced over and over again. "You need to coax her, persuade her, impress her, not knock her over the head with a mallet. Sometimes, for complicated things, you even need to grovel a little—but I'll teach you that later, some of the syllables in Faerilíca can take weeks to learn correctly. For now, keep trying to catch her eye in silence."
"But magic is only converted energy and emotion," Aldri reminded him. "I already possess it, I only need to use it."
"And just how do you want to take ten minutes' running energy or your liking for the color blue, and throw it out in front of you as an arrow-stopping shield, hm?”
Alexis Steinhauer

“Now, I pray you, cast yourself into a different world, a different trail of thought; step into a place where dragons live and breathe, where they are as real in touch and voice as you or I. Where they face the same extinction every day that they have suffered in our world: the extinction of myth . . . yet where they battle every moment to fend off such a fate for another day . . .”
Alexis Steinhauer, Dragon's Flight

Shambhawi P. Hah. I've gone truant on that school for the past week. (view spoiler)[It may or may not have something to do with a swollen liver and most of that week may or may not have been spent on a hospital bed. But I iz being better now. This is also a nonexcuse for the criminally late reply (hide spoiler)] The school may come back to bite me in the @$$ but I shall be prepared for that.

Don't read my book! DON'T! Don't you dare read it. It sucks. Like you may change your opinion of my writing sucks.

I try to be a regular blogger but I really am out of thingies to post. I spend hours staring at that white box and then posting nothing at all. I suck. (I blame college for sucking out all my writing skills. Not all, I guess. I do write one mean case review.)

I haven't read Pandora Hearts. I really should. My manga loves might be starting to get angry with me. I shouls stock up on the latest issues ASAP! :/

How long did it take you to compile that post? :)

message 26: by L'Poni (last edited Apr 29, 2013 07:50am)

L'Poni I'm glad you like Haruka Shimotsuki/Maple Leaf. I love all of her songs. That's just the tip of the iceberg. She does all sorts of Fantasy albums that tell stories and her style varies. I've been listening to her music for years. There's more where that came from :)

Bonus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_ni7T...

My favorite from the album (it reminds me of heavenly little dragons singing in a forest): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_ni7T...

Some of her more serious music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4JLAa...

That song is the second best from the album. I love the overlapping vocals and folk-ish instruments.

This is what I listen to on a regular basis :) . Wait until your head Akiko Shikata.

And this will make you cry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWKSfd...
Shimotsuki on left, Akiko Shikata in the middle and Noriko Mitose on the right.

Very emotional song about peace and love and forgiveness :). Its like a party in your ears. It needs 200 million views. More people need to hear it.

Here's the Tilia song that serves as opening for our story: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCQ5c2...

It sounds morelike a song about knights than a song about a dying planet. I'll email you my thought-notes on my favorite songs from them.

Some of her Creepy Warning music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sgRKB...

When I first heard it, I didn't like it but I came to appreciate the song. Everytime I hear that song, I think of Ashuton raging through a city. I have a poem I wrote to its melody for Dragon Spire. It reminds me more of a dragons' rage instead of creation and ending.
Hmmm...the lyrics in that video are incorrect. "Koware" means "die" not "shatter."

Lastly, this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MESV56...
The beginning is just....my goodness...
(Lyrics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYIWc7... )

The whole song tells a story. That's the best thing about Shimotsuki, Shikata, Mitose and ALI PROJECT: they tell stories. In ALI's case, they sing poetry. That song reminds me of How to Train Your Dragon. Don't know why. Everything sounds like dragons to me. The song also sounds like something you'd hear in Heaven. To quote a YouTube user, "somebody hacked God's iPod." I made it the second theme for my story, The Masked Man. I love Shikata's songs :3

Wait, Rekka Katakiri....
This song is EPIC WIN! Its the opening theme for Dragon's War (the space dragon stories in Dragons and Cicadas): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW7x6c...

It literally sounds like a song played during the apocalypse. And she's singing in gibberish! GIBBERISH!
(It's Ashuton's fourth unofficial theme...)
She made another song like that one.

And for ALI PROJECT, here is one of their poetry songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJ-wqz...

That song is opening theme for The Dragonboys, a novel I wrote in a month. Never have I wrote so fast~! I guess the Dragonboys in the book grew on me. Actually, they did. They're like my sons~. Here's the poem Ali sings: http://lyrics.wikia.com/Ali_Project:逝ける王女の肖像画

It reminds me of Victorian 1950s mashed up with new age hip hop and thrown into a techno-medieval soup (and a movie theater). That's why I like it so much. It reminds me of my own novel because it takes place in a techno-mash 1500s. You can hear the despair in her voice~! I like how the ending makes the middle part come back to haunt you, remind you of the endless cycle of feelings. You won't hear this in America.

This is from the same album. It feels so darn romantic! ROMANCE EVERYWHERE!!! AAAAAAAAAA!! Its my second favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awPBrw...
Poem: http://lyrics.wikia.com/Ali_Project:真夏の憂愁夫人

Here's one of their classical songs, Wuthering Heights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIrlPL...
Poem: http://lyrics.wikia.com/Ali_Project:嵐ヶ丘

It makes me want to dance :3

I hope you love them all~! Sorry to clog up your profile with this, but I'm estatic that I successfully made you a Shimotsuki fan.

Happy New Year to you too! To new beginnings!! :D

Shambhawi P. Oh come on... your books CAN'T be bad like you claim.. I've read bits of your writing and I'm in love with what I read. I'm actually interested to get my hands on more soon :D

Haha.. I seriously doubt about all those #s... My reviews are just random mundane gushings, not informative at all :/

Well I do celebrate New Year (if not anything else around this time) :D Thanks for your wishes!!

Oh, and I'm going to read your books soon by the way! Just need to clear out a few whose reviews are due and finally.... hehe :)

Yes, I love Robert Frost! I was so happy when I found him on your shelves! I'm not a really big fan of poetry overall, but Frost is just amazing. He is overlooked and underappreciated, I totally agree!

And hey, you can rant all you like, that's what this site is for, right? It's awesome to find people who appreciate the same stuff as you do!

Haha, hello again, Aleeshas2! Funny how we keep bumping into each other, isn't it? *grins*

I actually happen to love your reviews, they're actually proper reviews! You say what you liked and didn't, what was good and wasn't and why, instead of ranting about random stuff like I do.

Noooo, don't pick up my books, you might not like them, and then I'd probably cry....

I'm glad you enjoyed my review of Hunger Games, but honestly I'm more glad that you enjoyed the book itself. Enjoying books is always better than disliking them....

Okay, so, thanks! Thanks for being my friend, you're awesome! *happy dance*
