Kelly R. Martin was born in Rockford, Illinois in April, 1967 the year of the summer of love. He was lucky that his parents were not hippy intellectuals, but instead honest normal working class blue-collar folks.

He attended elementary school at Ellen Styles Elementary and Walker Elementary in Rockford, and subsequently attended middle school at Woodrow Wilson Middle School. He finished his Rockford based education at Auburn High School where he graduated in January 1985 (one semester early). Then he went to the University of Illinois in the fall of 1985 where he studied Aviation, History, Literature, Astronomy, Classical Civilization, and finally ended up with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Rhetoric from the U of I college of Liberal Arts and...more
