About this author

Hello. I'm Johnny, and I hate talking about myself.

I currently live in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in the beautiful, tax-free state of New York with my wife and her two cats. I say "her cats" instead of "my cats" because she's the one who feeds them, and their loyalty seems to lie with the person who opens the can. It seems that the guy who cleans their litter box gets no respect.

I split my free time driving to work, driving back from work, and sleeping. It's really amazing I had time to write a book, when I think about it.

Likes: Writing, Backpacking, Canoeing, Drumming, Music, Reading, Photography, Woodworking, comics and restoring antique radios.

Dislikes: Talking about myself.

is only .99 cents. For those of you with delicate, shell like ears. :)

"Typically fascinating stuff from Stephenson, combining mathematics, philosophy, space travel, and all sorts of other craziness. I docked it a star mainly because it takes about a 100 pages to really get started."

This hurts me to say, since I am a huge SK fan, but this book was just OK. As usual per King, the story is more about the journey than the end, but this one left me a little cold. I know if was supposed to be a nod to Lovecraft, but I think I was swa ...more

"Writing Better Lyrics is just fine. But for a more condensed experience of the book, I would say just follow these rules:

“Sometimes it's not all about the chocolate & the flowers & the jewelry & compliments. When you're dealing with real people & real feelings, sometimes it's about awkwardly presented offers of friendship. My advice is to recognize these for what they are, and make of them what you can, even if someone is giving you a metaphorical severed deer leg to get you to notice them. As I've recently learned, you never can tell where your best friends will come from in this life.”
