About this author

J.S. earned her Master of Science in Ecology in 1995 and tried out an academic career, but switched to writing and editing after starting a family. In 2009, she became the Managing Editor of Folded Word. Her poems have been published in a wide range of print magazines, from Ladybug (preschool-aged, US) to Fuselit (themed, UK). Her short stories have been published online at Nanoism, Camroc Press Review, 50 to 1, and others. Readers may learn more than they ever wanted to know about J.S. at http://grayestone.wordpress.com.


My family and I usually hide from the heat of California’s summers in the shade of New Hampshire’s maples. This summer will be no exception, but we will be driving instead of flying. I love tasting the landscape as it changes, rather than just instantly appearing in a new place. This will be the second time we’ve driven, but the first time we’ll take a northern route.
