Mary Lambeth Moore has lived in Washington, D.C., Boston and the southwestern mountains of Arizona, but she always comes back to her native North Carolina. Her work has been published under the names of executives, CEOs, civil rights leaders and national commentators. SLEEPING WITH PATTY HEARST is her first novel. Mary lives in Raleigh, NC with her husband and 15-year-old son.

Just posted a fairly long review of Susan Choi's new novel, MY EDUCATION. The phrase "remarkable achievement" is overused, but this is a case where it's just the truth.

“
Loneliness is the human condition. Cultivate it. The way it tunnels into you allows your soul room to grow. Never expect to outgrow loneliness. Never hope to find people who will understand you, someone to fill that space. An intelligent, sensitive person is the exception, the very great exception. If you expect to find people who will understand you, you will grow murderous with disappointment. The best you'll ever do is to understand yourself, know what it is that you want, and not let the cattle stand in your way.”

Christine Hatfield thanks for being my friend

message 2: by Annie

Annie Talley I'm happy to say that the Transylvania Library now has a copy of Sleeping With Patty Hearst. I had recommended that they buy one and I was so excited to see it on the "new acquisions" rack (which I always go to first). I asked the librarian how many times it had been checked out and she said 7 ! YAY.

Thank YOU, Gloria, especially for adding "Sleeping with Patty Hearst" to your "to read" list. Whenever you get to it, I'd love to know what you think.
