About this author

John H. Carroll was the youngest of seven children and was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1970 where he was kept in a dresser drawer with the clean socks. Luckily, he wasn’t kept with the dirty socks or else he might have grown up to become slightly warped.

As a child, John spent most of his time wandering through the Mojave Desert in an attempt to avoid people. He would stare at the sky, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. One of his favorite memories is watching his dad build the fuselage of Evel Kneivel’s skycycle in their garage. One of his least favorite moments was watching that skycycle fall into the Snake River. (Not his dad’s fault and he has documentation to prove it, so nyah)

As a teenager, John spent most of...more

Blue Haired Alien Girlfriend

DescriptionJoshua is a manager at FishBurgers who walks home alone every evening. One night, he comes across an unusual young woman by the name of Mariella sitting on a bench. He's thrown for a loop when she tells him where she's from, but he doesn't mind. He doesn't mind the fact that she has blue hair either, in fact it makes her all that much more interesting.

Haha, yeah. Sometime I've gotten rather on the defense when it comes to my work, but that was earlier on or when I think a certain part is perfect whether the rest surrounding it is or is not. Oh, well, that is good, then. My friends who have read it - or else, are still reading it - still haven't really talked to me about it. :/ So... I just sit and wait for someone to give me actual feedback.

Oh, lol, I know. It's just difficult sometimes - to be behind. I just wish I could sit and write, I do, but I can't. I know, one day I'll be able to do that... but while I'm still a student, not so much. And you are right, deadlines takes some of the fun out of the whole experience.

At least, I actually have figured out what I'm going to do! :D With the first 45 pages (that I accomplished in 3 days) I had no clue what was actually going to full happen. I mean to say, I had a rough outline, that was actually more from the opposite characters POV, but when I thought about how long that would make the book I realized it would have been WAY too short. D: So, I added a major plot twist and some minor ones. I know it isn't about how long it is, but rather the quality. However, I would like it to be at least the same length as the first, you know?

Oh, good luck then! I'm sure it will turn out fantastic. And, yes I know what you mean. :) I actually love when I'm writing a part and it makes me cry or actually laugh... it just gives me some hope that if it makes me do that it might be powerful enough for my readers to react too. Of course, I am writting for myself, mainly, but I would like my work to be entertaining and enthralling!

John Carroll I understand that completely. My wife ran through mine and she was afraid I would get upset if she said anything negative, lol. Once she realized that I was receptive to the critizism she gave me some really good advice.

Don't stress too much if you're behind. If you really enjoy writing, it's a lifetime thing I've found. setting goals for being at a certain point is good, but remember to forgive yourself if you don't make it. Deadlines can take some of the fun out of it.

Anyway, back to writing for me. *grin* 3 chapters left in the book and it's the exciting part. It's even more fun writing the part you can't put down than it is reading it.

Hey John,
Aw, thanks! And, that's quite alright. Just let me know when you do get a chance to start it. :D Oh, and good luck with the second book! I'm working on the second one of Nevermore.... I've been so behind though - I'm not on winter holiday, from high school, yet.

That's be awesome! Thank you. I'm always looking for ways to improve. I told my mom about a way Nevermore 2 was going to be different than 1 and she said "Oh, well, I noticed that in the first one. It would have made it a lot better." Needless to say, I got rather upset - Only because she should have told me while I saw editing it - Not because it was saying something was bad. In all actuality it was helpful. As long as whatever you say can be seen as helpful, it's all good!

Good luck with everything,
Molly.

John Carroll Hi Molly.

I put it on there because I noticed you're just starting out and no one's read it. I'm finishing my second book at the moment so I probably won't read until January. After that I plan on at least reading a little bit.

If I don't like it, I'll at least let you know why, whether it's just not my style or if I feel there's something that can be improved . . . if you like. :)

It's hard to get people to start reading and giving their opinions, so I like to help when I can.

I wish you the best. :)

John

Molly -waves- Hi there,
I noticed my book is on your "to-read" list.... It actually shocked me a little bit. :D
I hope you like it, though I'm not positive you will. :/
Anyway! I hope you are doing well,
Molly.
