Thank you Suzanne - I'm actually delighted that you thought the author of the book was a woman! It's a huge compliment...

I think all novels and stories have to start with character, so I spent a lot of time thinking about Christine and who she was, and how she'd respond in the situations she finds herself. But ultimately I think the job of a writer is to think themselves into the head of someone who isn't them, and this can and should include people whose experience isn't directly comparable to theirs. “We’re constantly changing facts, rewriting history to make things easier, to make them fit in with our preferred version of events. We do it automatically. We invent memories. Without thinking. If we tell ourselves something happened often enough we start to believe it, and then we can actually remember it.”
S.J. Watson, Before I Go to Sleep

“What are we, if not an accumulation of our memories?”

“It's so difficult, isn't it? To see what's going on when you're in the absolute middle of something? It's only with hindsight we can see things for what they are.”

November 2015 Our November book will be a MYSTERY novel. Since the Mystery genre appears to be ginormous.... a sub-genre was way more necessary than we originally thought. And since we also accidentally skipped October's usual Horror book, Celeste and I decided to choose books from the mystery-sub-genre Psychological Mystery for this month's poll. ;)

This poll will be live from 10/4/15 - 10/17/15.
