About this author

I am a novelist living and working in Brighton, UK, in a haunted palace by the sea. I write horror/psychological thrillers as Simon Maginn: Sheep (filmed as The Dark), Virgins and Martyrs, A Sickness of the Soul, Methods of Confinement, Rattus (novella). Jon Ronson has the most lovely written style. He is one of just a handful of writers I am aware of who knows how to be sly. He achieves his considerable results by underplaying, understating, and refusing always the easy option of mockery or condemna...more

Magisterial. In person, Richard Dawkins can seem defensive, arrogant: chippy. Hardly surprising, considering that he is a dignified and serious scientist who has had to spend years combating preposterous and impudent attacks. But his books are meticu...more

This is tremendous writing, muscular, brutal, rich and often beautiful. If the horror genre never existed, we would have to invent it just so we could have Ramsey Campbell. Don't worry if you're not a horror fan, there is nothing here to put you off,...more
