Married to a handsome giant and mummy to a two foot mud-fairy, Katie has been writing stories and poetry since childhood and has always been away with the woodland fairies.
She is author of the Amazon UK Best Selling YA Fairy Tale Romance series, 'The Knight Trilogy' www.katiemjohn.com and a dark, Gothic paranormal detective novel called 'Beautiful Freaks'
She has a love of writing weird and wonderful short stories and can be found 'visiting' writer friends' anthology collections.
Katie likes to keep it varied and pinning her down to a particular style or genre is hard; she mainly writes for YA and NA, and in the Dark Fairy Tale Genre. However she also dabbles in more adult works of horror and issue-focused work.

It's also the most brilliant job in the world to combine with mummying; I get to work entirely on my own terms. It's an incredibly free way to live and it means that I can spend precious time with my children.

Lastly, it's the AMAZING author community; people who inspire, love, support, care and understand you more than anybody else; they understand that conflicting need for personal solitude and the need to belong to a tribe that's got your back.

I think the best advice I can give is to say, "Stop seeing yourself as a wannabe, someday I'll be, aspiring writer and start defining yourself AS a writer, see yourself in this way and it will become; make it happen. Write. Network. Craft. Approach people with knowledge. Be professional. Be kind and help others. (less)

So I've been a very busy bee doing many author things and one of the most exciting of these is founding Chapter.Con London 2017.

Fed up of not having the similar kind of Reader, Author and Blogger conventions that are regular events in the States, I set out to Utopia in Nashville this summer. What I experienced there made me realise more than ever that we needed a YA and NA Reader, Author and B... Read more of this blog post »

“Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars, points of light and reason. ...And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn’t see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason, for anything.”
Stephenie Meyer, New Moon

“I crave your mouth, your voice, your hair.
Silent and starving, I prowl through the streets.
Bread does not nourish me, dawn disrupts me, all day
I hunt for the liquid measure of your steps.

I hunger for your sleek laugh,
your hands the color of a savage harvest,
hunger for the pale stones of your fingernails,
I want to eat your skin like a whole almond.

I want to eat the sunbeam flaring in your lovely body,
the sovereign nose of your arrogant face,
I want to eat the fleeting shade of your lashes,

and I pace around hungry, sniffing the twilight,
hunting for you, for your hot heart,
Like a puma in the barrens of Quitratue.”
Pablo Neruda

“If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever.”
George Orwell, 1984

Ed Rambeau Thanks for accepting my friend request, Katie. You seem like an interesting person, so feel free to tell me more about yourself and perhaps we can grow to become even greater friends. I, myself, am a singer/songwriter/actor who has recently turned author, so perhaps we can share books and ideas in the future.

Regards, and have a great day, Ed

Hira Dear Katie,

I just received my signed ARC copy of "The Forest of Adventures" yesterday, and I have to say it is one of the most beautiful paperbacks I've ever laid eyes on. Also, it was extremely thoughtful of you to send the postcard with it, and your words put a smile on my face. That extra effort and your generosity are both a testament to the kind of person you are. I cannot wait to read "The Forest of Adventures" and it makes a BEAUTIFUL addition to my library. Thank you, yet again. Best of luck in all your future endeavors.

Sincerely,
~Hira H.
