About this author

Mark Anthony Lopez was born in Philadelphia, PA., and raised in New Jersey. Ever since his Dad bought him his first comic book, he has wanted to become a story-teller. Shortly after the beginning of his second year at The College of New Jersey, where he majored in English and Philosophy, two events took place that set him on the path to finally achieve that goal: his National Guard Unit was mobilized for what would be over a year of Active Duty with the US Military (including one year boots on ground in Iraq) and not long after that, his mother passed away. Determined more than ever, he packed his belongings, moved to North Jersey, waited tables, and started writing.

Four years later, he proudly finished his debut novel, The Dead Don’t Cry.

I saw the film first, so for me, the book was the adaptation. Enjoyed it very much, though the film felt more cohesive.
