THAT got my mental wheels unjammed and turning again. There was a bit of a stumble between then & now on whether or not that project would move forward and a project I was working in the meantime (which I should be able to announce soon) was also shifters. I'd already gone from Pretty Poison (shifters) to the new shifter story...Honestly, I couldn't face diving right back into another shifter story, even if it was just revisiting a world I'd already built. 3 shifter worlds that close together is the secret to a psychotic break, right? LOL. But yeah, that prequel's going to happen. Maybe after I finish the current non-shifter project. Unless (God help me) something else gets all jacked up, I should have the IO prequel in 2015.

So...a sequel, probably not. At least not anytime soon. That's still jammed up in my head. But a prequel? That, I'm rather excited about. :-)(less)
Kari Gregg Noah's the baby (and an oops, although that was one of those development thangs that never had a logical reason to make it on-page) so all his sibs…moreNoah's the baby (and an oops, although that was one of those development thangs that never had a logical reason to make it on-page) so all his sibs are older than he is, his sister (the eldest of them all) significantly older by many years. Can't recall if I ever pinned that down in text, but she's closer in age to Trudy, who (as I vaguely recall -- sorry, don't have my prelims file open atm) was 30. One of the brothers was much closer to Noah, though. Much. So they aren't ALL drastically older than he is.

As for series work, probably not. I wrote this one as a stand-alone. Most everything I do is. Not that this book or that one couldn't be expanded and explored more. I just lack the patience and discipline for series work. Especially when it comes to shifters. There are so, soooooooooo many shifter mythos that can be developed, an embarrassment of creative riches just waiting to be tapped. I could literally come up with dozens of shifter stories and never revisit the same mythos twice. So much lovely shiny. Countless ways to play with traditional shifter tropes and sometimes nudge those tropes into skidding a bit sideways. I'm playing with the destined mate trope in shifter fic right now, actually. Utterly delicious. OMG.

For me, the story most worth pursuing is the one I can honestly say I've never seen done the way I want before (which can be good or horrifically bad, depending, LOL), but if I've already visited that world once, I've seen something like I want before, no? Series work is a writer's bread and butter, so I've been told, but my brain is just wired all wrong for that. Noah was special to me. I loved him. But I love Wyatt...and Jamie...and the respective worlds each of them live in. I've told Noah's story. He doesn't need me anymore. Wyatt and Jamie, though, do. If that makes any sense.(less)

“You have no idea how much I want to hunt you, then hold you down and fuck you until you scream with pleasure of me inside you.”
Kari Gregg, Pretty Poison

“I won’t run.” Gabriel gulped. “I promise.”
“You aren’t being punished; you’re being protected.” Cal snorted. “But you’ll run. When you’re scared or hurt, your first instinct is to run. You can’t help it any more than I can resist chasing you.” The shifter leaned to brush his mouth over Gabriel’s. “Be smart, pet. Run to me.”
Kari Gregg, I, Omega

“I don't know who-what-I am anymore."

"You're mine. That's all you need to understand." His grasp tightened around Gabriel like steel bands. "Mine to feed, mine to fuck. Mine to play with, punish, and protect. Say it." Gabriel's breath locked in his chest at his furious growl. The shifter snarled Gabriel's name against the tender skin of his throat in stark warning. Gabriel's heart thudded.

"I'm yours," he gasped, scrambling to remember it all. "Yours to feed, yours to fu-" Gabriel shouted when the sharp teeth pierced him. His dick happily stirred.”

“Drink your coffee -- people in Africa are sleeping.”
Josh Lanyon, Fatal Shadows

“Why can't you say it?" I hardened my voice. "Because I'm telling you, you never have. I'd have remembered."
He stared at me with disbelief. [...]
"Love you? Of course I love you. Baby, I fucking worship you.”
Josh Lanyon, The Dark Tide

“From Kari Gregg's "What Rough Beast"

{Elliot} blinked when a blade speared neatly through the master's chest from the rear. "Got him," Garrick shouted over the master's shoulder. "Set, Elliot."
Set what?
He didn't care.
He channeled his rage and pierced the dark master through, impaling him on his blade.
Garrick slid his free.
Malachi yanked him down a split second before Garrick's sword severed his head as well as the dark master's. Chest heaving, he sprawled in the dust, blinking at the fuzzy image of the head bouncing across the floor. It came to rest at the bottom spoke of a crumbling ladder, the vampyr's teeth still gnashing.
His new partner dragged him upright and, looking in his eyes, squeezed his shoulder. "Set means your blade will set the enemy for your partner's killing blow" Malachi grinned at him, chuckled. "It also means duck.”

IO's going to have a sequel, yes, but the idea for it is still cooking in my brain. It's not ready yet.

Kari Gregg Yeah, the collect-friends-at-any-cost thing happens a lot. I personally don't see the point. A lot of work, sending a gazillion friend requests to people who share zero interests w/ me...why? I'd rather focus time & energy on the writers & readers I do actually have something to talk about with. Go figure. LOL

Josephine Myles Hi Kari - thanks for friending me here! :D

And I ask that question because I was getting all sorts of friend requests from people who seemed to have no interest whatsoever in m/m fiction. Really, what would be the point of them friending me? I think they're just collecting numbers.

So I can have more fun with it. Woot!

Scroll past What You Want Version 2 to download/listen to What You Want.

My DH wanted the music from the LW book trailer for the car. ;-)

message 7: by L.C.

L.C. Hey Kari - Looks like Movie Maker is PC-based. I'm on a MAC. But, went surfing through my applications and found iMovie. It came pre-installed, so... looks like I have a new program to learn. Yay.

And PUH-LEEZE! Your videos rocked. I loved the music for Spoils of War - haunting, mysterious... It really set the tone perfectly. I'm bummed I can't find the music on Lovely Wicked on iTunes - but Sam's hot, so its all good. :-)

message 6: by Kari

Kari Gregg If you don't already have Movie Maker, download it! It's very intuitive. If you know how to work with images, you should be able to pick up MM right away and you know how to manipulate images, which means you have the foundation skills to pull of something truly spectacular with a book trailer.

Try not to be too unimpressed with mine...2 books coming out so close together and me scrambling to set my writerly self up, I didn't have time to play with my stock images like I wanted. Still, I don't think I did too badly given the time crunch.

message 5: by L.C.

L.C. Nope, I haven't tried making one of those yet. I don't even have the first clue how to go about it. ;-) I'm going to go check yours out right now though...

message 4: by Kari

Kari Gregg This is my first try at a cover, LC. Have you tried making book trailers yet? Those are so fun, should be illegal.

message 3: by L.C.

L.C. You're not wrong, I did the triple. I actually did seven in total - had to call in friends to help me narrow it down to three. ;-)

I LOVE playing with cover ideas! I have mock covers done for all my WIPs. They keep me going. :)

message 2: by Kari

Kari Gregg Yeah, Josh's idea to have the contest was brilliant great fun. You did the mock-ups of the 3 together, right? Or am I wrong? Regardless, I thought they were very cool. I think I may be in the minority, but I liked the first one best. :D

message 1: by L.C.

L.C. Hey Kari,

I saw your cover entry on Josh's site - nice work. Fun he's doing something like that, eh.

Good luck!
