Tense, plausibly sexy "everyman caught in a world gone mad" thriller. Loses a star because, try as I might, I couldn't avoid recognizing that the twist identity of the hidden mastermind was telegraphed before the halfway mark.

At halfway through this massively long novel, I had been introduced to dozens of characters and was almost drowning in relationships and conflicts... but I didn't know where the story was going, and I had the sinking feeling that the novel would end...more
