About this author

Janice Daugharty is artist in residence at Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College, in Tifton, Georgia. Her latest novel, "Two Shades of Morning," is now available, in ebook and print, at most online and traditional book stores, as well as libraries. This is Daugharty's tenth published novel. She wrote for ten years without publishing a single short story or novel, then finally captured the attention of Joyce Carol Oates with a story accepted for Ontario Review Press. My intrigue didn't last long because Sibyl turned out to be one of the most conniving and envious person I ever met. I was an emotional cripple till I finally let go--and saw myself in her as well. Like many other writers, I often find my stories in newspaper articles. I read about a poor black boy who found a sack of bank-robbed cash in an alley and returned it to the bank. I asked myself, what if the boy decided to keep it instead? And what kind of boy would it be to risk getting caught and accused of robbing the bank himself or of being in cahoots with the robber? What would be his mot... Read more of this blog post »

Janice Daugharty is 50% done with A Book To Die For: AUTHOR'S NOTE: My former editor at HarperCollins once told me a true story about a first-time writer who sent a skeletal manuscript to an associate editor and friend of his in the days of Harper Row. The associate editor advised the writer to go back and work some more on the novel then resubmit it. Meanwhile, the editor herself began rewriting the novel on the sly. Not long after finishing the novel, she died. So, t
