About this author

Alisa Steinberg is a novelist, poet, and blogger, and back in the day, she was a practicing psychotherapist (and now she frequently thinks she's the insane person in the room). She lives in Manhattan but doesn't own a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes or hangout at Bungalow 8 like Carrie Bradshaw (although she wouldn't be adverse to either). Steinberg is a lover of great literature, good jokes, romantic movies, and the frequent shopping excursion for fabulous clothes at bargain prices (where she doesn't have to fist fight a fellow shopper for a Juicy Couture sweater). She's the author of "Text Me, a Tale of Love and Technology" and "Notes from Ellen Wasserfeldman" (a comedic novel, the first of a trilogy, due out in the Fall of 2010). Steinberg has...more

As we approach a New Year, I sift through possible resolutions; what my first resolution would be is simple – I'd like to pass onto others who are not writers the knowledge on how to deal with those who live by the pen. Plainly stated, it would be How to Relate to the Writer in Your Life or, in my own personal case:No, I'm Not the Unabomber.

Text Me, A Tale of Love and Technology (Literature & Fiction)
1 chapters   —   updated Oct 30, 2010 12:59AM
Description: Small-town girl Penelope McAdams has one huge problem - she doesn't know a thing about technology - and when she moves to the all-wired-up and wireless world of New York City, where she makes the mistake of buying her first BlackBerry minus the text messaging service (the modus operandi of communications for the Manhattan social scene), she's in for trouble ... In the romantic comedy "Text Me, A Tale of Love and Technology," Penelope's failed love life causes her to go on a quest to recover lost and important texts sent from her male suitors, resulting in a series of mishaps with everything from MP3 players to gaming equipment and two very different men who compel her to choose between the truth and a lie. Aspiring to become an upwardly-mobile Manhattan woman, Penelope receives technology lessons from Ted Hollis, the anti-social-techno-geek who retrieves her texts, and begins a relationship with Luke Carson, the handsome shipping entrepreneur who texts her for a night out on the town. All seems to be going well, but Ted needs more time than expected to teach her that an Apple Store isn't a fruit stand and how to work an iPod and GPS locator when she can't even work a simple coffee machine, so she finds herself spending a majority of her afternoons and evenings with both men: Luke, the type of man she's always dreamt of, and Ted, the type of man she never desired ... But when Ted survives her knocking him unconscious with a Wii Remote, and endures her frantic, midnight phone calls when she can't turn on the HDTV, does Penelope have a change of heart? With a tie-in to the film "It's a Wonderful Life" and its main character, George Bailey, who Penelope shares similarities with in her yearning to start anew outside of a small-town, this is a humorous story of self-discovery and love.

Alisa Steinberg Hi everyone! Just wanted you all to know that my comically quirky novel "Notes from Ellen Wasserfeldman" is now officially out in eBook format at at Notes from Ellen Wasserfeldman Take a look at the book's synopsis ...

One neurotic therapist, her two crazy friends, and one-hundred mental notes ... Oh - and an orgasm named "Oliver" ...

Get ready for the utterly unique "Notes from Ellen Wasserfeldman," - the first book of a comically quirky trilogy with Ellen, a single, neurotic psychotherapist, who's trying survive in New York City - an urban jungle filled with dysfunctional people. Trying to navigate through the daily trials and tribulations of this jungle, she uses "Mental Notes," which are her humorous quotes and reflections that are applicable to the lives of the modern, everyday woman.

Ellen's Mental Notes, one-hundred altogether, begin on the first page with "Mental Note #1: If it wasn't for the hopeful probability of sex, men and women would have nothing to do with one another ... (Okay, so this may be truer for men.)" Truly believing in the theory of hopeful probability - that anything is possible if you just keep on trying - Ellen prepares herself to win the heart of her adolescent crush, who she'll be seeing at a wedding in two-months after not seeing him for seventeen years. But can she really concentrate on the wedding when her father decides to join a monastery in the Poconos, a full-time podiatrist turns into her part-time stalker, floating clergy begin to hover over her bed, and a best friend becomes infatuated with "Oliver," the personification of the female orgasm? With all this insanity in her life, will Ellen and her psyche make it to the wedding in one piece?

If you have any questions about "Notes from Ellen Wasserfeldman" or my debut book "Text Me, A Tale of Technology," just shoot me a message!

Cheers to all of you,
