About this author
Leigh MacCallum, who was born in Washington DC, has spent most of his life traveling the US and the world, visiting or living in 49 states and 17 countries. As an anthropology major in college, he developed a fascination with the mythologies of the world. Either a Renaissance man, Jack-of-all-trades or just a loser who can't seem to hang onto a job (depending, largely, upon your personal viewpoint), he has worked through the years as an intelligence operative, a teacher and a singer/songwriter, among a myriad of other occupations. He now lives in Menasha, Wisconsin, where he comfortably labors over his novels, the settings and characters of which often reflect his lifelong interest in cultural mythology.
I remember watching Gregory Peck as the “Old Gringo” Ambrose Bierce, repeatedly attempting to goad Jimmy Smits (playing General Arroyo) into sufficient rage to kill him, thus sparing him the agony of a slower death by disease that is ravaging his body.
