Sadder than I was expecting - just more emotive in general. Would probably have preferred some of the passages on the nature of good to have been less fullsome as my mind started to wonder, but generally good and sympathetic but flawed characters.

One of those "oh my god this book is amazing I AM NEVER READING IT AGAIN" deals. Fantastically uncomfortable story, compelling, poetic, insightful, painful by degrees, genuinely thrilling. WILL DESTROY YOUR HEART and your sanity.
