About this author

Susan McBride is the author of women’s fiction, including The Truth About Love and Lightning, Little Black Dress, and The Cougar Club, as well as the award-winning Debutante Dropout Mysteries. She calls herself an “accidental cougar” after meeting a man nine years younger in 2005 when she was a St. Louis Magazine “top single.” They were married in February 2008 and live happily ever after in a suburb of St. Louis. She is a six-year breast cancer survivor and often speaks to women’s groups about her experience. In January 2012, she was named one of St. Louis’ “Most Dynamic People of the Year” by the Ladue News. In April 2012, she was given the “Survivor of the Year” Award by the St. Louis affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. In late Jun...more

The Truth About Love & Lightning is in bricks & mortar and online booksellers now (as well as Target and another big discount chain I'm not supposed to mention just yet!). I was on "Great Day St. Louis" yesterday to talk about it. Here's the video if you want a peek:

Susan Hi, Jeannie! My work is definitely diverse. It was really fun doing the five mysteries in the humorous series for HarperCollins/Avon, and now I'm totally enjoying writing THE DEBS young adult series (nonmystery) for Random House. It's more an ensemble piece with four main characters, so chapters alternate between the girls and their different points of view. I think your 13 and 14 year old granddaughters would enjoy THE DEBS, although keep in mind it's PG-13. I will visit your web site and see what's up. Good luck with the novel you're co-writing. Publishing is a tough business (it took me eleven years post-college to break in); but it's really amazing to do what you love to do and get paid for it! I feel very fortunate.

Jeannie Faulkner Barber Oh my goodness Susan, your work sounds fascinating. I'll have to tell my two oldest granddaughters, 14 & 13...they're avivd readers. If you have the time, I'd love for you to visit my web site, jeanniebarber.com. I'm a novice writer so feel free to make any kind of suggestions, ideas or thoughts to correct it. I’m co-authoring a novel with Patty Wiseman, another friend on Goodreads. We’ve known each other for over 30 years. While you're there, please sign the guestbook, too!
Thanks,
Jeannie
