Renee is the bestselling author of DOLLFACE, WHAT THE LADY WANTS and WHITE COLLAR GIRL. Her YA novel, EVERY CROOKED POT was published in 2007. She is currently working on a new novel WINDY CITY BLUES about the Blues and Chess Records coming in Feb. 2017 (Penguin/Berkley.)

Most people discover their love of reading first and then decide to try writing. For Renee Rosen, it was just the opposite. From the time she was a little girl she knew she wanted to be a writer and by age seventeen had completed her first novel, with what she admits was the worst opening line of all time. Her hopes of being the youngest published author on record were soon dashed when her “masterpiece” was repeatedly rejected. Several years and many attempts later, Renee f

As someone who has a great deal of respect for people who write narrative non-fiction, I tried wherever possible to stay true to the facts. However, Marshall Field and Delia Caton were notoriously private people and that's where the fiction came in. I just had to put some meat on the bones of those characters, but tried to do so in a way that seemed plausible. At the end of the book, you'll find an author's note where I tried to separate the fact from the fiction. Hope that answers your question and again, thanks for reaching out to me! (less)

“I realized then that there are moments when life seems to be happening to you. These are those moments that you later reflect on, wondering how you survived them. Getting the injections in my eye was like that. So were the laser treatments. It was even a little like that when I lost my virginity. These are moments that change and shape you, and they’re so imposing that you can’t stay present for them. So you slip away, someplace safe inside yourself, and wait for the storm to pass.”
