About this author

Vicky Dreiling is a confirmed historical romance junkie and Anglophile. Frequent business trips to the UK allowed her to indulge her passion for all things Regency England. Bath, Stonehenge, and Spencer House are among her favorite places. She is, however, truly sorry for accidentally setting off a security alarm in Windsor Castle. That unfortunate incident led her British colleagues to nickname her “Trouble.”

When she’s not writing, Vicky enjoys reading, films, concerts, and most of all, long lunches with friends. She holds degrees in English literature and marketing. A native Texan, she shares her home with her daughter and a spoiled mini-lop rabbit that lives in a slightly gnawed cardboard cottage.

Here are a few books that should prove helpful: Goal, Motivation, and Conflict by Debra Dixon; Screenwriting Tricks for Authors by Alexandra Sokolov; Self Editing for Fiction Writers by Renni Brown and Dave King. Two things that are super important: Read voraciously and widely. And most of all write. I remember as a very new author realizing that my fledgling manuscript did not have the quality of the romance books I read and loved, but I kept working at my craft. Be persistent. Don't let one rejection deter you. When I give workshops I always tell writers that fear is a writers worst enemy. I wish you the very best with your writing. When you sell that first book, let me know. Cheers!(less)
Vicky Dreiling Hi Mary C. Nulla, I recently turned in a proposal to my publisher. I hope to have news soon.

Sir_Arthur_Wellesley_Duke_of_WellingtonRecently, a few authors joined in a historical group to complain about the proliferation of Regency England dukes. Now why they did this wasn’t clear to me immediately…until they mentioned that authors could join their blog and discuss it. Clearly their aim was to shore up commentary for their blog. With tongue firmly planted in cheek, I wish to announce that all of the real Regency dukes are s...

“Something started thumping rhythmically against the door. Julianne hiccoughed and stared in horror, fearing whoever was in there would fling it open.
A man grunted again and again.
Georgette frowned. "Is he ill?"
The door thumped harder. A woman started making repetitive high-pitched noises, sounding like a squealing pig.
Julianne frowned. "What are they—hic—doing?"
"We must leave," Anne whispered.
The thumping turned into banging, and the man's grunting grew louder. "Feel my mighty sword."
"He has a sword?" Georgette asked.
The woman behind the door screamed.
Georgette gasped. "He killed her."
"I'm coming," the man said.
"Not inside me," the woman said in a curt voice. "I don't want a brat."
Julianne dropped the candle and clapped her hand over her mouth. She'd thought a bed was required. As she stared at the door, she tried to figure out how the amorous couple had managed, but she failed.”
