About this author

I write books about teens who must do brave things. I'm originally from California, but I moved to Ohio to marry my husband, who is the smartest and therefore sexiest man I know. We live in Columbus with my teenaged stepsons, who are awesome. My books tend to contain lots of adventure, a little magic and romance, and smart girls who make (mostly) smart choices. I especially love to write about questions I don't know the answers to.

I’ll be in Detroit this weekend for Legendary ConFusion. Here’s my panel schedule. I hope to see some of you there!

Feminist sci-fi for the win! This is not an easy beach read with a fluffy romance (though there's nothing wrong with books that are). It's definitely a coming-of-age tale, but I think it will appeal most to mature teens who are sophisticated readers....more

“I love you the way a drowning man loves air. And it would destroy me to have you just a little.”
Rae Carson, The Crown of Embers

“Honor from death,” I snap, “is a myth. Invented by the war torn to make sense of the horrific. If we die, it will be so that others may live. Truly honorable death, the only honorable death, is one that enables life.”
Rae Carson, The Girl of Fire and Thorns

“I think sometimes when we find love we pretend it away, or ignore it, or tell ourselves we’re imagining it. Because it is the most painful kind of hope there is.”
Rae Carson, The Bitter Kingdom

Elena Schmid torre Thanks for being my friend! I loved your Fire and Thorns series, and can't wait to read more of your work.

message 10: by Erynne

Erynne thanks for being my friend

Erynne it might seem stupid but i feel like Humberto is still alive, but maybe i just miss him so much and i want him to still be alive, although authors in the past have said that people were dead, but they are really not

Elizabeth I am so incredibly excited I'm not sure what to do with myself!!!

I'm a Lit. Studies major and I am taking a course called Sci-fi and fantasy, and according to the syllabus (class does not start until next week)we get to do an analysis on a fantasy/science fiction novel of our choice!!!!

And of course I am going to do mine on Fire and Thorns and probbly add a touch of its sequel...

Sad news is that while taking my full load of courses, and working my full time schedule, I fear that my time reading Crown of Embers will not be as pleasant and care-free as I would like it to be :(

Never the less, I will squeal when I purchase the e-book.

And then proceed to most likely ignore my course-load as well as any thoughts of sleep in order to finish it within 24 hours.

Thats the plan at least :)

I absolutely love your books, and am thrilled to see you may launch another trilogy once this once is commenced!

On a side- note: I respect your writing so much!

Sincerely,
Elizabeth.

TheBookofJules YAAAAYYY. The Girl of Fire and Thorns is one of my favorite YA books. I look forward to the sequel! :-)

Christine Hatfield thanks for being my friend
