Scott’s professional writing career began in the mid-’90s, when he wandered into an office just as a ‘zine publisher was firing an editor. He spent the next decade championing bands that didn’t suck, and mocking those that did. While he still writes music and cultural criticism for various regional and national outlets under his given name, Scott has largely returned to his original literary love: lying ab...more

Pirate Cinema
by Cory Doctorow

Entertaining near-future fable on squatting, copyright, fair use and how the nature of art evolves with technology. Doctorow doesn't let his pet theme overwhelm the first-person narrative, though it's always front and center. Good stuff that has the...more

Gun Machine
by Warren Ellis (Goodreads Author)

The choice of genre might surprise long-time fans, but the prose itself is all Ellis--it's insightful, thoughtful, weird, tight and darkly funny. Part cat-and-mouse thriller and part police procedural, Gun Machine balances detailed exterior action wi...more

Aloha from Hell by Richard Kadrey
I'm a fan of Kadrey's voice, but I liked this the least of the Sandman Slim stories so far. Some great scenes, but if felt a bit forced to me, and a little overlong. Won't keep me from reading the next one, though.
