Casino Royale by Ian Fleming
Read Ian Fleming's Casino Royale the first time fifty-one years ago. Thought it was exciting then. Last week I decided to re-read it. Lots of Life has flowed under the bridge in fifty-one years. But it was like meeting an old, old, old friend again a...more
The Rembrandt Affair by Daniel Silva
Gabriel Allon, Daniel Silva's Mossad assassin, is one interesting character. Very complex, very much a vessel of guilt for a man in his line of work, nevertheless he slogs on relentlessly. And brilliantly I should add.

Eight Black Horses by Ed McBain
Absolutely excellent. A great read from a master story teller!
B.R. Stateham is on page 186 of 336 of Eight Black Horses: Forgot just how smoothe Ed McBain's writing is. We're talking about the man who made me fall in love with police-procedurals here. Excellent stuff!

Call Me Smitty by B.R. Stateham
Volume three in the Call Me Smitty series. My creation, the dark eyed hit man named 'Smitty' is at it again. Seven short stories that are dark, mean, and addictive.

If you haven't discovered Smitty you should. You'll become a fan. Guaranteed.

Return of the Thin Man by Dashiell Hammett

The Masuda Affair (Sugawara Akitada, #7)
by I.J. Parker (Goodreads Author)

Starts out slow but builds in plot. This is a series where it would be best if you started book one and read all the through to this one. Elventh Century Japan gets to be a rather dark and sinister place. But surprisingly you meet a number of people...more
