about this author
Che Guevara was a medical doctor who became a Marxist revolutionary. He has written a number of treatises on Marxism and on guerilla warfare, and his diaries and memoirs have been widely read. He earned his nickname "Che" from his frequent use of the expression, which in Spanish is an exclamation that is often used to get attention or express surprise, and so it corresponds in some ways to exclamations such as "hey!", "eh!" and "wow!". It is also used in a vocative sense as though it meant "friend", and thus corresponds in some ways to expressions such as "mate", "pal", "man", or "dude."
