Jack Eason Re the whole subject of idiotic troll book reviews, I've just been taking a look at two self-styled reviewers based in the UK. The first is ‘Nudge’ who loathed my fantasy anthology and the second is ‘David Lamont’ who stated that he wanted his money back amongst other things. If you click on their names and any other idiot you come across in any list of reviews on any of the online book outlets who would have the world believe that what they say will affect a book’s sales, you will see their ranking in the site’s equivalent of Amazon’s Top Reviewer Ranking. None of them rate better than 200,000. In fact most flounder in the doldrums, not even breaking through the 2 million mark. So I ask you why should anyone be they reader or writer, take the least bit of notice of their deluded ravings? Ignore the idiots! Make up your own mind about a book. Take a look at the first few pages. If you like what you see, buy it. If not, don’t. When it comes to Amazon ebooks, use the ‘See Inside’ option. Its as simple as that.

Thinking about the last point however, its possibly well beyond the grasp of the trolls...

Jack Eason I hate to point out the obvious Amazon, No author wants to buy a copy of their own work. Stop sending those idiotic 'You viewed' emails!!

message 54: by Jack

Jack Eason Almost there. Just need three more people to purchase a copy of The Seventh Age to reach the ultimate sales target of 5000 sold. :)

message 53: by Jack

Jack Eason I just need ten people to buy a copy of The Seventh Age, just ten, for it to reach 5000 sales. :)

message 52: by Jack

Jack Eason I never dreamt I'd be saying this, but one of my books - The Seventh Age - is only fifteen away from reaching five thousand sales. ;)

message 51: by Jack

Jack Eason Goodreads wants to know what am I reading today? I would be happy to tell everyone. But according to Goodreads, the best selling English author Michael Jecks and his books don't exist!!!!

message 50: by Jack

Jack Eason Come on admit it, as writers, whenever you get a one star review, don't you feel like saying to the reviewer, "there, there, never mind. Next time I'll write a book just for you full of words like 'and' and 'but'. We can't have you using your brain now can we?"

message 49: by Jack

Jack Eason I was having a 'chat' with one of my FB friends after he read my latest historical science fiction short story http://akhen1khan2.blogspot.co.uk/201.... We were discussing the so-called Dark Ages in which my short story is set. One of the last things I said to him was how long would it take for us to revert to a tribal way of life should we all experience a global disaster? Food for thought methinks...

message 48: by Jack

message 45: by Jack

Jack Eason Starting tomorrow 22nd November, my latest novella 'The Forgotten Age' will be given away from an Amazon outlet near you. :)

Jack Eason There is now a petition at Care2, set up to rid Amazon of its Forums - the home of their own brand of internet troll. Why not sign it to show your displeasure at Amazon's seeming reluctance to close down their own trolls?

message 33: by Jack

Jack Eason Sadly, I've just removed the Goodreads app I had installed on my blog. Why? Because the book covers no longer appear. Meaning no one reading my blog can take a look at a book I have just bought, or reviewed any more.

message 32: by Jack

Jack Eason A message to Goodreads.

What's the story with Goodreads? Since they fell out with Amazon and a few other book sources, its becoming increasingly impossible to source a book on Goodreads' Title/Author/ISBN search tool, particularly if you are looking for a specific cover, or version.

It negates the whole purpose of Goodreads as a site where readers and authors meet. If you can no longer find the book you want there, how are you to review or recommend it to the rest?

Come on Goodreads, get your act together - fast! At the moment, my advert for you on my blog is blank.

message 31: by Jack

Jack Eason Come on folks, the more that take the opportunity to get a free download of "Onet's Tale" from the Amazon outlet near you, the more the story will be read, and hopefully appreciated.

If you have already done so, please do offer your own review - good, bad or indifferent, on completion of reading it on the Kindle page for 'Onet' at Amazon US, UK, Germany, France, Estonia, or wherever you may be - thank you.

Yesterday's free download figures as as follow:
280 in the US.
111 in the UK.
5 in Germany
1 in Estonia

"Onet's Tale" became No:1 on the Kindle list in Germany, No:9 in the UK, and No:22 in Estonia.

So go and download your own Kindle copy. You have until Jan 30th to get my science fiction space opera for nothing.

message 30: by Jack

Jack Eason Love Science Fiction? My sci-fi space opera "Onet's Tale" will be free to download during the period Jan 27-30 at Amazon. Get yourself a copy for nothing folks. :)

Jack Eason By the way, I’ve recently finished writing the manuscript of my next science fiction novel “The Seventh Age”, set in the present. It is a story about a race to prevent ‘Time’ from counting down to destruction, evidenced by the Mayan calendar ending in 2012. Now I have to wait for my editor to find time to do his stuff. Hopefully it will be published next year – 2012.

message 12: by Jack

Jack Eason Whew! I have just finished the last major editing session for my next science fiction novel "The Seventh Age". Now I have to wait patiently until my editor has a free space in his busy schedule...

message 11: by Jack

Jack Eason I couldn't quite believe what I was reading in an article earlier today. American traders in shares were worried about their profits because of the Japanese earthquake and its attendant Tsunami. What about the poor people of Japan for Christ's sake, surely their health and welfare far out-ways the needs of the greedy?

message 10: by Jack

Jack Eason Hmm. I may have finished writing my manuscript yesterday, but now I've just begun to edit chapter by chapter, expanding or contracting where necessary. One chapter per day - that's the key...

message 9: by Jack

Jack Eason Yay! The manuscript for my science fiction novel "The Seventh Age" is finally finished. My editor, however will have other ideas. :)
