about this author
I am an American photographer who has spent over twenty years photographing models. I come from a family of artists and have traveled to more than three dozen countries in South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Orient, and India. My work is influenced by the cultures I've experienced and countless hours through dozens of museums and hundreds of galleries.
My first figure shoot occurred as an art student, and quite unexpectedly. After asking a classmate if I could photograph her, she agreed. We went to my studio, I set up the lights and got out my camera; she fully disrobed, assuming that is what I had intended.
I had my first commercial gallery showing at the age of nineteen, while still an art student. Since then, it's been my good fortune to have thousands of my photographs sold through art exhibits, licensed through stock photography agencies, appear in books, articles, advertisements, and other publications. I began teaching advanced photographic techniques while still in college, filling in for several weeks during a professor’s absence. After my education, I continued to teach photography both in public institutions and privately. I have not offered any regular instruction or workshops for the past decade and instead concentrate on shooting. I have written a few books and articles, including how-to's for nude photography and pictorial books that explore and celebrate beauty.
In my writings I draw upon my training in art, a Master’s in business, and experiences as both a professional photographer and a freelance artist. You'll learn from twenty years of successes (and even some mistakes) with hundreds of nude models.
