About this author

Sanne van Havelte, pseudonym for Suzanne Alida Maria van Hamersvelt (Zoetermeer, 7 juli 1889 – Huis ter Heide, 19 december 1968) was a Dutch author of romantic books, highly appreciated by girls and young women. She has been called the 'Dutch Jane Austen'. Most books feature love stories, and the characters in the various books often are related to each other.

The only sister of five brothers, Suzanne was denied any education past elementary school. She was to remain unmarried and care for her parents in their old age.

At the request of her sister-in-law, Suzanne started writing stories for her niece. The first one, 'Hun Geheim' ('Their Secret') got published and this marked the start of her career as writer.
