About this author

My first suspense novel, The Drowning of Chittenden, is about a young woman who searches for her roots in moonshine country, only to find the old place at the bottom of a newly formed lake. And someone is desperate to keep the family secrets buried.

When I wrote this book, I couldn’t help being influenced by three of my favorite authors, Daphne du Maurier, Mary Stewart, and Phyllis A. Whitney.

“Finding family” is an important theme for me because I grew up in Turkey and Brazil, apart from my extended family in rural Ohio. That early travel led to my becoming a Spanish teacher and also my passion for travel. The brilliant night skies of Brazil hooked me into star-gazing and subsequently my speculative fiction interests.

I recently found a treasure in my local used bookstore, a beautifully illustrated encyclopedia of fantastic beings.

I have been curious to learn more about demons, since I put one in the mound that appears in my novel The Mound Dwellers, by Minta Monroe.

Today I've listed some of the demons at

Suspense is my favorite, but I like most anything with a good story and interesting characters. How about you?
