Editor’s Note: This is the third installment in a series of interviews I’m conducting with people across the country. This is an effort to get to know the stories of the people whose status updates I see on Facebook. It is the discovery of how people came to form their political beliefs, what worries they might have and what gives them hope. These are #PeopleoftheResistance. If you have a stor...

KARLY SHEEHAN by Karen Spears Zacharias
"So very sad, yet left me so very angry

This is the story of Karly Sheehan, a young child whose death at the hands of her mother's boyfriend, Shawn Field, should never have occurred. Not a typical true crime story, the author had known Karly's mothe..." Read more of this review »
KARLY SHEEHAN by Karen Spears Zacharias
"A true must read.

This is a sad true story of a sweet little girl loved by all who knew her except for one evil man who in my opinion should have gotten the death penalty.

KARLY SHEEHAN by Karen Spears Zacharias
"A sad tragedy

I have read many books in my lifetime. I love true crime and Ann Rule. I have never read a book that made me so sad and angry at the same time. I read a review of this book where someone said the author was obviously biased. My though..." Read more of this review »

“Forgiveness is not to condone or minimize the awfulness of an atrocity or wrong. It is to recognize its ghastliness but to choose to acknowledge the essential humanity of the perpetrator and to give that perpetrator the possibility of making a new beginning. It is an act of much hope and not despair.”
Karen Spears Zacharias, Where's Your Jesus Now?

“Nothing escaped Karly’s keen eye. She was intuitive and inquisitive, perceptive and observant. Girls born to neglectful mothers learn early that the world is fraught with dangers and they need to stay alert.”
Karen Spears Zacharias, KARLY SHEEHAN: -true crime story behind Karly's Law-

“We were keeping a tally of who is to blame and how much. Shawn was at the top and Sarah wasn’t far behind.”
Karen Spears Zacharias, KARLY SHEEHAN: -true crime story behind Karly's Law-

“The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues.”
Elizabeth Taylor

“We shouldn't be looking for heroes, we should be looking for good ideas.”
Noam Chomsky

“Write something to suit yourself and many people will like it; write something to suit everybody and scarcely anyone will care for it.”
Jesse Stuart

“Be nice to whites, they need you to rediscover their humanity.”
Desmond Tutu
