About this author

My life has been a series of left turns that nevertheless took me in the right direction (though it didn't always seem so at the time). I went to college to be a theater major and ended up studying the Renaissance. I went to grad school to become a college administrator and loved to teach so much I became a college professor instead. I thought I wanted to be a Tudor-Stuart historian, and found myself a historian of science. I started blogging because a friend needed help on a project in 2006 and am still blogging about wine today. I started writing a novel in the fall of 2008, and it became a New York Times Bestseller in February 2011: A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES. What's next? The second volume in the All Souls Trilogy: SHADOW OF NIGHT.

Loved this! A bit of Jasper Fforde, a bit of X-Files, and a lot of droll action and tongue-in-cheek dialogue as we follow the heroine, Myfanwy Thomas, through her adventures. Thoroughly enjoyable, and highly recommended.

Nicole Thanks for accepting my friendship! I'm reading A Discovery of Witches and I'm enchanted! It's so beautifully written and Diana is smart and strong and sassy and doesn't play damsel in distress which I love and Matthew is dreamy, intelligent and downright delicious! I love all the history and science mixed with the supernatural elements, it's all of my favorite things together, real accurate history and the paranormal! Thank you for writing such a beautiful story, I'm devouring it like Diana devours her books and Matthew devours Diana... I mean science... ;)

message 17: by Lexi

Lexi Thank you for such a wonderful book!

It had been collecting dust on my shelf for months since I'd purchased it. Then suddenly it seemed to call me on the eve of Halloween. I sat down after work and thought well maybe just a few chapters. As it happened I closed it, completed, the next afternoon without having slept.

It was refreshing and a nice change to read about vampires and witches that had substance beyond their supernatural abilities. I can't wait for the follow up books.
