"No matter how badly we want fairy tales to come true, the only parts that ever really happen are the bad ones."

It's back!! I wanted to return with something uber awesome this week so what's more awesome than morbid clothing? We don't need scarfs in Hawai'i, but if we did, I'd be using this everywhere. Yes, it would clash with my skintone, and I'd probably receive tons of stank eye, but come on...as if wearing a scarf in Hawai'i didn't already merit that!

On March 11th, an earthquake off the east coast of Japan triggered a devastating tsunami that so far has claimed over nine-thousand lives. The amount of destruction and loss is incomprehensible.
It is going to take a lot of time, a lot of effort, and a lot of money to help rebuild what was lost, and I'm ready to help.
From now until the end of March, 100% of every sale at our store will go to the Aloha for Japan project, which will split the procedes between the American Red Cross and the Japanese Red Cross Society..
If you'd like to help, please make a purchase. Whether it's a paperback, an ebook, or a gift certificate, every little bit counts. As a thank you, I will email you a coupon code for 25% off of your next purchase. If you want to make donations directly, you can do so at Aloha for Japan or at the American Red Cross. Even if it means a little to you, it means a great deal to the people receiving it.
Mahalo for taking the time to read this, and for your help.

*Note: I wrote this story a very long time ago while still in high school, and recently discovered it and wanted to share. It's something different. Enjoy.
FOR MY CAT
The music contnued to blare loudly as she stepped off of the stage and disappeared behind the beaded curtain.
All around her the roombustled with activity. "Great set, Deb," someone said to her. "Yeah, real good," someone else agreed.
She barely noticed the comments as he sat down in front of a large, lighted mirror. She grabbed a jar of cold cream ands tarted to remove her makeup, and siged as she glanced into the mirror.
The woman she saw looked much older than her twenty-five years. Her once bright green eyes were shadowed by dark circles, and her skin looked tired and pale. The only color on her face were the streaks of grey eyeshadow and her rouged lips.
"You're still beautiful, Deb."
She looked up to see her boss standing behind her. His enormous head on such a thin body was nearly comical.
"If I'm so beautiful, then why is it that every time I look in the mirror, I feel ike shit?" she asked sarcastically. "Huh, Eddie? I mean, I'm a damn stripper. I'm two moves away from being a cheap whore and yet I'm 'beautiful'?"
Eddie sighed. "Deb, you're a high class woman and our feature performer. You used to love this job, this feeling."
She stood up angrily. "That's just it; I never loved this job! I've always hated it! But I need the money."
With as much dignity as he could mnuster, she slipped into a dress that was draped over the chair and headed for the exit.
"Why do you need money so badly?" Eddie asked as she opened the door.
Looking back, she answered simply, "It's for my cat," before heading out.
After a long and quiet drive home, she felt the stress and fatigue fade away.
Her apartment was dark and as she turned on the light, she gasped.
"Cat! Hey, cat?" she called out. She walked into her bedroom and sat on her bed. "Hey, Cat...wake up, kitten."
Sleeping in her bed lay a small, red-haired child.
"Catherine, wake up; Mommy's home."

Sweet Silence, the online serial available to registered readers, is almost over. Just a few more chapters to go before the conclusion to an experiment that has been, for the most part, successful. But what happens next? Do we end these online serials or do we continue on? And if we do, what do YOU, the reader, want to read next?
To help us out, I've set up a poll for you guys. Yes. You get to make a huge decision on what gets posted here as our next online story. So, check out the poll below and give us some feedback. Leave comments if you want. Ask questions. Input is always great! Poll after the jump!

They're back! This is such a haunting song and these kids manage to capture it while still maintaining that innocence that lives and breathes in just the voice of a child. Here's Ariel Pink's "Round and Round".

Don't ever, ever think that you're less than perfect. Perfection isn't about being the prettiest, the smartest, or the best at everything. It's about seeing who you are on the inside and loving that person because that person is the best you that you can be and no one, regardless of how they look, how much money they have, or how good they are at something, can be better at being you than you can.
You are all fucking perfect.

I love to read. It was my escape as a child, and my vacation as an adult and I honestly don't know what I'd do if I couldn't get away every now and then to catch up on my favorite stories or revisit an old one. Recently, one of my favorite series was updated with a new volume. I knew that I had been waiting for a while for this book to come out but I didn't quite realize just how long until I began to read reviews for it.
Four years. Four years since the last book. Upon realizing this, I began to wonder just what exactly is the limit for a reader before one decides it's too long.
