About this author

Rebecca Costa is a sociobiologist who offers an evolutionary explanation for current events and emerging trends. A new voice in the mold of Thomas Friedman and Malcolm Gladwell, Costa attributes modern consternation - from terrorism, crime on Wall Street, epidemic obesity and upheaval in the Middle East - to genetic imperatives. Retiring from a career in Silicon Valley, Costa spent six years researching and writing The Watchman’s Rattle. The success of the book in 25 countries led to a weekly syndicated radio program called The Costa Report. Costa is presently represented by the American Program Bureau and the Scott Meredith Literary Agency. For more information visit

According to Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, over the next 48 hours the amount of data generated will equal or surpass the amount of data generated from the dawn of humankind up through the year 2003. And you know this is nothing compared to what is coming in the next few years with the influx of unstructured data. Yes, big data is getting bigger, faster, and more complex. So what does... “In an environment where there are too many choices, too many decisions, too much information, and too many demands on our cognition, it pays to be judicious about the complexity we voluntarily sign up for. When we make the decision to streamline our lives, we also create time and room to think with focus and intent. In a complex world, time to stand back and look at the big picture, time to consider our options more carefully, time to make more deliberate decisions, and time to breathe are necessities for survival.”

Donald James Parker Hi Rebecca,
Thanks for the friend invitation. I see Richard Dawkins is on your favorite author list. You might like to read my book - All the Voices of the Wind to counterbalance your worldview. I'd be glad to send you a free ebook.

Jesse Hanson Thank you for including me among your friends, Rebecca. It's good that people like yourself are thinking clearly about the problems of environment and social issues. I wish you all success in your work, and in all aspects of your life.
All things being connected, I endeavor to focus on the spiritual aspect. Hope you'll have a look at my novel, Song of George: Portrait of an Unlikely Holy Man when you have an opportunity.
Namaste, jesse

Ed Rambeau Thanks for your friend request, Rebecca, which I happily accept. You seem like an interesting person, as well as an accomplished author, so feel free to tell me more about yourself and perhaps we can grow to become even greater friends. I, myself, am a singer/songwriter/actor who has recently turned author. My 2 top ten recordings were CONCRETE & CLAY (as a singer) and NAVY BLUE (as a writer)...both in the early 1960's. My first novel is an unusual murder mystery entitled: FORBIDDEN STEPS.

Regards, and have a great day, Ed
