We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler
"Okay. So if I was to give Karen Joy Fowler advice on how to write a great novel, I'd tell her to come with an engaging, intelligent and witty narrator and have her tell a captivating, moving and timely story and do it in a compelling and original..." Read more of this review »
We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler
"Now on 2014 Man Booker list! Deservedly.

Everything you (ok, I) desire in a novel: good characters, storyline, ideas, surprises. Intellect AND heart AND eccentricity. And the kind of tart humour that twists the knife. She's a wonder, KJF."
Pleasure in Relating by Susan Groves
"At times personal and tender, at others philosophical and profound, Groves exhibits a broad range of poetic manoeuvres. Drawing on her varied life – from life in England and Africa, from Anglican priest to Buddhist – Groves delights in employing a..." Read more of this review »

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
"So listen. Look. I am a READER, right? I mean, I read all the time, everywhere, every day, a book a week. But most of the time the book I'm reading is a dull throb beneath my fingers, a soft hum behind my eyes, a lovely way to spend a bit of time..." Read more of this review »

“How often do we tell our own life story? How often do we adjust, embellish, make sly cuts? And the longer life goes on, the fewer are those around to challenge our account, to remind us that our life is not our life, merely the story we have told about our life. Told to others, but—mainly—to ourselves.”
