I talk about it in the book, actually. The best thing you can do is shut out the negative voices by smothering yourself in the positive. Not in a bubble, mind you, but of support and love. You cannot create unless you have joy in your life. Negativity quashes joy. (less)

The book has done so much better than I’d hoped (although I’m a pessimist so anything above zero exceeds my expectations, EVER haha) and hitting the New York Times bestsellers list? Unbelievable.

Overall though, the most amazing thing has be...

Marts (Thinker) Hi Felicia
Nice to meet you, and thanks for the friendship.
Looking forward to some great book ideas.

message 2: by Brett

Brett Just started reading "The Blade Itself" after becoming thoroughly intrigued by your review of the series. And, good god I'm glad I did! Just wanted to say thanks for the heads up, this is quickly marching its way to one of my favorite books.

message 3: by Ed

Ed F,
I recommend anything by A Lee Martinez. Light-hearted absurdist fantasy, well-written and funny.
A Nameless Witch

message 4: by Karey

Karey Thanks for the add, Felicia. I added a few books from your list to my 'to-read' list. The one on Edna St. Vincent Millay looks great. Her poem, Barter, is one of my faves. I'm going to check out the one on Chekov, too.

Dani Thanks for adding me as a friend. I bet that I'll get some great reading suggestions from looking at your list.

Faith-Anne Thanks for the add! :)

Matthew Asking around my friends, wondering who has tried Shelfari.com compared to goodreads. I like the community here but the interface has a few problems that really get to me, and am thinking of switching. Was wondering your opinion of Shelfari, if you have tried it before?

message 8: by Jason

Jason Lundberg Hi Felicia, noticed you've read a number of Zelazny's novels. You may want to check out LORD OF LIGHT, which does some interesting and almost blasphemous things with the Hindu and Buddhist pantheons.Lord of Light

message 9: by David

David I love your shelf titles.

message 10: by Loren

Loren Toddy Rock on!!

message 11: by Erik

Erik Thanks for the add, Felicia. I can tell you and I have many of the same tastes so I will be perusing your shelves with interest. See ya 'round!

message 12: by Vis

message 15: by Bill

Bill Hi Felicia,

Greetings from NH. I'm still navigating my way around Good reads. My own latest is: The Feathery.
Just finished D.W. Buffa's; The Judgement. Found it to be a great work of legal fiction...written by an attorney turned toward good story telling based on his craft.

Thanks for the friendship.

Bill

message 16: by Esther

Esther Hey Felicia!

Thank you so much for introducing me to GoodReads via Twitter, I'm totally hooked! Oh, and besides being a wonderful actress, you seem to have a great taste in books as well. Keep up the good work!

With regards,

Esther

orangerful Hi Felicia,

I went to a book discussion event on Tuesday and wanted to suggest two of the titles that were deemed "Great Books for Young Adults of 2008" for you - Graceling by Kristin Cashore and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (the rights to the latter were just bought by Lionsgate films, I am guessing it will be the next big book/movie trilogy...if they do it right!).

Sam

Savannah Morrow HI Felicia!
I am really happy that you are my friend now. I want you to know that I really like 'Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog' a lot! I love all the songs and I sing them all the time! You have such a beautiful voice! I noticed that you have read the Harry Potter series! I have too and that is my favorite series. You probably get this a lot but, can you please join my 'Hogwartians Group'? http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1... Thanks! You are amazing!!!!! -Savannah

Meredith Hey, thanks for the add!

Had a quick glance through and you have awesome taste in books. Also, on a hopefully not too random note, I recently watched all of "The Guild". Love it and can't wait for more. ;)

Gumbowriters Your site is beautiful as like your face

R Brian Harris Well, talk about those pleasant surprises on a Saturday morning ( and, FTW, I didn't run out of coffee after all! )... Hello and thank you, Felicia. Have a splendiferous day. :-)

message 22: by Craig

Craig Williams Hi Felicia - thanks for the add! I look forward to discussing books with you ad nauseum;) I still don't use this site as much as I'd like too, although it's an awesome idea for a social network site. The only thing that it's missing? Mafia Wars:)

message 23: by Janna (last edited Aug 12, 2009 08:51AM)

Janna Hi Felicia! I'd like to recommend a book to you called Fantasy Freaks and Gaming Geeks. It's part memoir, part travelogue, part pop culture analysis. It talks about WoW, D&D, Renaissance fairs, LOTR, Harry and the Potters, and lots more. It's already gotten a lot of great advance praise.

The author's book site is really fun, too. http://www.ethangilsdorf.com/ (He lists your site in his links.) :) Anyway, I've got connections (haha), so if you'd like an advanced copy, send me a message! Otherwise the book comes out September 1.

message 24: by Rauf

Rauf Holy socks...You're the one that played the math teacher on that House episode? I love that show! And I love that episode because Lucas, the PI, was introduced.
