about this author
From the time I was a boy, I loved treasure hunts. My first experience was as a 6-year-old at the local gas station. I put my finger into the coin return slot of the jukebox and pulled out a dime. I had found my first treasure and I was hooked.
Treasure hunting became my hobby. I played all of the local radio station contests and won so many that I lost count. In the days before contests had the disclaimer clause, “one entry per person,” I was the kid that would take 500 entries and spend the afternoon filling them out. No wonder I won!
In high school, the contests got a little more challenging. One was a radio contest where you had to guess the correct serial number on a $100 dollar bill. If you got it right — you got the $100 dollar bill. I got the right answer and received the $100 dollar bill.
In college I even got my friends involved. Another radio contest involved listening to the radio and going to 20 sponsors’ places of business to get clues. The contest ran for 3 weeks and the sponsors had entry boxes at each location. I had figured out most of the answers and had narrowed the final answer down to 20 possible answers. I did not have the time to fill out the entry forms and I knew that unless I guessed the correct one I would never win. A friend of mine had a lot of time on his hands, so I paid him by the hour to fill out 400 contest entries. I thought that with 20 locations and 20 possible answers, I would stand the best chance of winning and being the first one with the correct answer drawn. When the contest was over the organizers had a pile of 20 correct answers. All of them from me!
I have dreamed about creating The World’s Greatest Treasure Hunt™ since 1986. I even did my MBA Thesis on how to do it. To say that I am passionate about treasure hunts would be an understatement. In the recent past I found another passion, to get on the hit TV show “The Apprentice”. I auditioned eleven times for the show, traveled 15,000 miles, spent about $30,000, got short-listed twice, but never made it onto the show. In my pursuit of being on the show I had the opportunity to rub shoulders with people like Donald Trump and Mark Burnett. Both of these men have talked about and written books about difficult situations they have faced. Their stories inspired me to follow my passion and to do this treasure hunt.
The loss of my sister-in-law to breast cancer, turned doing this treasure hunt into a must-do on my personal bucket list.
My goal is to make a difference in the world of breast cancer research, so that others will not have to go through the pain and loss my family has gone through.
This treasure hunt allows me to follow two passions: to help fight breast cancer and to create The World’s Greatest Treasure Hunt™. 100% of the net proceeds of the sale of the book go to breast cancer research. Please buy the book and help us make a difference.
