About this author

Young Adult and Middle Grade Author
Horsewoman
Animal Lover
Avid Reader

Linda Benson is the author of WALKING THE DOG, SIX DEGREES OF LOST, THE GIRL WHO REMEMBERED HORSES, FINDING CHANCE and THE HORSE JAR. In addition, THE HORSE JAR has been translated into Spanish - LA ALCANCIA DE LOS SUENOS (The Piggybank of Dreams.)

Her passion for nature and animals often finds its way into her writing. She has been a veterinary assistant, zoo keeper, race track groom, realtor, children's librarian, and owned both a native plant nursery and a saddle shop.

Ms. Benson lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and a myriad of animals. In fact, everytime she sits down to write, it seems like a dog wanders into the story, or a horse gallops through. When she...more

During the last few years, I've been a reading machine. Taking advantage of a great library systemwith loads of new releases (not to mention a state-of-the-art drive-up window) I became one of their best customers. I proudly signed up for the Goodreads Challenge for 2011 and 2012, and challenged myself to read 111 and 112 books for those years. Done!

It took me almost forever to finish this book (well, more than a month) but I'm glad that I ultimately stuck it out. I've probably not read anyone who can write a character or a scene better than Ivan Doig, and in fact this book comes to life because...more

Beautifully designed, lovely illustrations, but none of the poems spoke to me at all, and I'm a cat-lover of the first degree. Surely there are other poems about cats that are more relevant. If not, then somebody hurry and write some!
