John Kosek

The United States

John Kosek completed USAF (United States Air Force) flying school as a member of Class 53-G and took his fighter gunnery training at Luke AFB (Air Force Base) in the winter of 1954. He subsequently served with the 27th Strategic Fighter Wing, flying F-84Fs out of Bergstrom AFB in Austin, Texas and RAF (Royal Air Force) Sturgate at Upton-upon-Close, England.

While at Luke AFB, Kosek met, and later married, Margery Wilson, one of Frank Luke's nieces and so came to know many of Luke's brothers and sisters who generously shared their memories of Frank Luke - the renowned American First World War fighter ace - with him.

A retired advertising executive, Kosek has an MA in creative writing from San Francisco State University.
