Vixen Phillips's Blog
August 7, 2011
The novel Trapdoor has received a great new review over at Decoding Static, written by one of the past competition winners, Andy Harrod. There's also a follow-up interview with the author Vixen Phillips on the same site.
Also, don't forget that Lost Violet Press has a facebook page now, so if you're in that neck of the woods, stop by and say hi, or follow @lostvioletpress on Twitter.

Lost Violet Press is again participating in Read an E-book Week for 2011. Between March 6-12, if you purchase from Smashwords using the vouchers listed on the books' product pages, you can get Narcissism for free, or Trapdoor for $1.50 (that's 50% off).

For the past six odd months, the e-book version of the original yaoi/dark science fiction novella Narcissism has been listed for free on some websites, and $0.99 on the Kindle store. Effectively immediately, this novella is now $0.99 at all e-book outlets. However, you can still read it for free on my (seriously abandoned) personal website, and there is a Smashwords coupon that can be used at checkout to get the e-book for free. See the updated Narcissism book page for more details. Thanks for your understanding.

I've just run the script that determines the three winners of the free/giveaway copies of Trapdoor. Each of the winners has been notified via Facebook. Congratulations to Mima, Andy, and Genna, and humble apologies to anyone who didn't win a copy this time around. No doubt there'll still be more competitions in the future, so thanks to everyone who showed an interest in the story to enter in the first place.

To all the friends, readers, and visitors to this site, a very happy new year.
And a present for Trapdoor fans: I Will Be Queen, a short story told from Wendy's point-of-view. Over the years, readers have wondered what happened to make her such an unlikeable character. This series of vignettes answers the question, somewhat. Spoilers only for the free first-half of the novel. I hope you enjoy it.
Don't forget, too, about the chance to win a free paperback or e-book copy of the novel, and feel free to stop by and like the Lost Violet Press facebook page if you're in that neck of the woods.
Have a good one!

To celebrate the remix release of my angsty homoerotic litfic novel Trapdoor, I'm offering a post-Christmas giveaway for three readers: the chance to win a free copy of the novel. One paperback book and two e-book editions in a format of the winner's choice will be given away. The only thing I ask of winners is that they leave an honest review of the book, at Amazon.com and/or Goodreads.com (which as of this writing has an unfortunate bug in its calculation of the book's average starred rating!)
This competition is open to readers all over the world.
To enter, please leave a comment expressing your interest, either on this entry, at the Trapdoor facebook page, the Lost Violet Press facebook page, or via an @ reply to lostvioletpress on Twitter. Each entrant will be assigned a number, which will be randomly chosen via the computer.
The competition is open from now until January 31, 2011. Winners will be announced here at this blog on the 1st of February, 2011, and contacted either via email, twitter, or facebook, as applicable. Books can be gifted via the wishlist system at Amazon.com, so there is no need to provide your personal address details. The paperback book will be shipped via Amazon.com. E-books will be provided either by the Amazon.com Kindle store, or through a voucher at Smashwords.com.
Don't forget, you can read the first 12 chapters for free at the Trapdoor website, or in e-book format at feedbooks.com, so you can get a good feel for the story ahead of reading the whole thing.
Thanks for reading, and best of luck if you decide to enter!
