Jeffrey Long, M.D., is a physician practicing the specialty of radiation oncology (use of radiation to treat cancer) in Houma, Louisiana. Dr. Long has served on the Board of Directors of IANDS (International Association for Near-Death Studies), and is actively involved in NDE research.

In August of 1998, the nonprofit Near Death Experience Research Foundation and coinciding website (nderf.org) was established by Dr. Long and his wife, Jody, to open up a forum for people from all over the world to share their personal experiences as well as a controlled environment in which to collect scientific data on this phenomenon.
