influences High School English teacher, Gary Prater, who encouraged my love of reading and writing, Nora Roberts, and Anne Rice.

about this author

In 1983 a high school English teacher returned a paper I wrote on Shakespeare’s Macbeth saying, “Miss Phillips, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see your name on the cover of a novel one day.” For more than twenty years those words of encouragement rambled around my brain until I finally decided to professionally pursue my passion for writing.

Today I’m a single mother of two rambunctious young boys making my home in the foothills of the glorious Smoky Mountains.

I’m a history buff, particularly pertaining to all things Celtic, and readily admit to unhealthy obsessions with chocolate truffles, SEC college football, and the herb garden I am forever plotting. Life is hectic, demanding, and sometimes tedious, but writing is the one thing I do strictly for myself. Sharing my stories with others is a joy and privilege I will never take for granted.
